Those are some SERIOUS performance gains. When do you plan on making this airbox for the Kleemann supercharged 55's? I want one! Making a $700 price hike is quite a bit from the original cost dont you think?

MafiosoCLS55- That is the sickest CLS I have ever seen I love it, makes me want one now! Cant wait to see pics with the blacked out grill

Sorry but I have not put the Vrus airbox back on yet (not enough free time). Since I returned to the stock box/green filters the CEL has not returned. As previously stated, it is unlikely that this box would throw a CEL, so it may have been coincidental.

I'll post up some new info as soon as I get it back on and return to the track.

The manufacturer agreed to run the R&D group boxes for $1600USD so everyone got them at a much lower price.. but, all boxes after that would be sold at a retail price of $2300USD... The manufacturer set the pricing structure.. Dont forget, compared to the competition, that is a steal for what you get.

Mike,

The filters that are part of the kit are my custom made 2 stage foam filters.. They are a unique design exclusive to VRP.

You can buy any or all the parts as you like. Airtubes, engine cover & airbox are all sold individually.

$3500 is for air boxes, cover and tubes.

$1500 was a group-buy special just for the airboxes.

From my understanding its the combination of airbox and tubing. My shop is going to order some so I'll let you know (post dyno).

thats not true he also had the resonators takin out. so we will never know what did what. only true way to see if a part works is dyno the car insatall part only 1 part at a time then redyno same day.
on top of the resonators there are others that can come into play heat would be a big factor. what were the temps day of orignal and day of post mods.

I will be doing just that. I'm still running on the stock airbox and I have my VRP. My guess is that it will give us a little more grunt at the start, especially with the 80mm TB. The volume of filtered air is larger than OEM, so the initial punch will have less resistance and MAY give that lower end grunt. Once all is flowing, the surface areas are the same, so the filter plays the biggest role. The only thing to also keep in mind is general aerodynamic. A simple test with a pressure sensor and a datalogger can let you know exactly where your bottlenecks are. The INLET to the tubes is one point and the TB is the next big one. Lastly, you can alsways attempt to make temperature arguments, but again, once moving it should be fresh air.

On most cars you cant remove the Black rubber around the TB because it is epoxied.. What I did was just take a rasp or an exacto knife and trim the black rubber until it clears the airbox. Once the airbox is installed, you cant see anything back there, so dont worry about cutting the rubber.

Wow, i just spent a couple hours reading through all this pages.
This is my first post, so first of all, HI!!
Secondly, I'll be buying an 04 e55 tomorrow. I checked it out today, loved it but it was too late to get to the bank.
I lost track of the thread towards the end cause i started falling sleep, but where oh where can i order the air boxes and tubes. I'm not interested in the cover since i'm mostly performance oriented only.

How long would i have to wait for them to be sent out. Are there any tubes readily available?
Thanks a lot!!!

pd: Amazing, i haven't even taken possession of the car and i'm ready to start modding!!

PM vrus he posted just before you he is the one that made the box. i have the tubes and cover still waiting on the box. ( i have 80mm throttle body) if you plan to mod the **** outta your car get the 80mm TB air box. you can also get the 80mm TB from him to.

when you want other mods or instalation of these parts get ahold of adam at euroelites he is in fremont euroelitesonline.com he also sells these parts for vic. good luck and when you get your car post up some pictures.

Any one wantto take the pepsi challenge? I'm willing to bet throwing in a set of good filters like K&N or BMC will easily make just as much or more then any airbox design that still works in conjuction with the stock airbox bottoms. Any takers?

Only way to see real gains is with totally new set-up, that flows more volume, doesn't matter if you add big inlets and big outlets or whatever but if your restriction is in the middle or where ever your still only flowing the same volume.

If it's for looks forget what i said, but for HP go with $80 filters instead of thousands to get the same results. But what do i know, i only know how to make jam other than that i don't know nothing.
