AMG Performance Studio

Check out the article in eMercedesBenz.com about the new uber AMGs, aka AMG Performance Studio. The big question is - Will they be available in the USA?

U.S. availability never seems like top priority, but when and if they are available here, this pink CLS is all mine.

Not very likely, coz they would need to get DOT approved for every new part and the demand is probably not high enough to justify the added cost.

50% or more of their market for AMG-enhanced MBZ's is the USA.

No way they are going to go to the expense of this kind of additional production without tailoring many (if not most) of these cars to come to the US market.

I wouldn't doubt that some of their interest in opening this new model-band was generated by US enthusiasts queries over availalbility of additional performance-enhancing modifications....

If they build it, they will come (to the US).

Further proving that people DO love to mod their AMG cars.

Got a funny feeling the TT6.3 is work it's way into this equation somehow.

It's allll getting more clear now.....I think

Well...

In the U.S., we already get the Performance Packages and Editions lines and 'Easty' mentioned that they are developing U.S. compliant pieces for the SLK55 Black Series. It stands to reason that as many Black Series cars as possible will be available here and that the Performance Packages line will be expanded.

The real question is will we get the Signature Series cars (like the CLK DTM / cabrio) or other race-bred cars such at the replacement for that vehicle, already reported to be in the works. My guess is that any future cars getting rolled out be be designed with U.S. customers in mind.

That leaves the last category: Unique. Previously under the banner of AMG Manufaktur, these parts were next to impossible to obtain...even for guys like Steve NL. So....unless AMG decides to put an Installation/Accessories Center in the U.S. --- Perhaps one a each VPC, one at the Classic Center in Irvine and one in Chicago or Vegas, it may be unlikely that we'll see these Unique cars available here.

But, we can always hope...

A very limited production version of the CLK63 F1 Safety Car is a possibility, according to my sources. I had an opportunity to climb in and around the car at the recent USGP (https://mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=154526). It has the most of the same elements that attracted me to the CLK DTM, but I actually prefer the more integrated fender flares and rocker panels of the SC. I'd be willing to pay a premium to make sure it stays faithful to the original design (including two-seat configuration, as much carbon fiber inside and outside as possible, tweaked engine, brakes and suspension , etc.), while meeting US regulations. If it becomes a reality, I'll be one of the first in line.
