How about a CO2 fire extinguisher? You could just spray the intercooler by hand for Dyno runs and surely someone of your resources could McGuyver up a set up for spraying the extinguisher whule driving.

hilarious! some very funny content in here!
but as mentioned just get one of the aftermarket intercooler spray kits and leave the wart freezer for warts! lol
Speaking of which, has anyone installed eg an NX NOS or CO2 cooler to their 55?

Check out this company.

They have a C02 cooling kit similar to the nitrous cooler setup. I would assume CO2 is cheaper than nitrous. They have rings that mount onto the cooling fins, a spray option, and an intake frozen bulb thing. No idea how effective this is though, I posted it here a month ago and it disapeared quick.

would it be possible to install a bypass system on the existing coolant lines in and out of the intercooler and install a secondary system to run ice cold fluid through the intercooler?

Here is an idea... why doesnt someone re route there AC system to run through an IC pipe? Make your R134a freeze the IC piping... a friend of mine thought about that for a Kapstone project in college...
Hey BTW can we see pics of your R33s?
