20+ to list......
CL65, good for transferring rubber from wheel to the ground; M6, good for high speed chasing on freeways; 996TT, best all around town car, if I were you, I would forget about the M6 and the CL65, and keep the 996TT.

But the point is, he's been there and done that. He needs a change. Kinda like when we were 25 and needed some strange, you know?

He'll ride in the mid-life mobile for a year or so, then return to the 997TT in a tear or 2.

What I am thinking is dumping my 2003 996TT- I have some decent mods on it: Stage III turbo work, GIAC chip, Sportec 20lb Wheels, Fabspeed Exhaust, JRZ coils, etc. but I am so bored for some reason. The car is a rocket, handles great but I am drawn to the M6 for some reason. I know some your or maybe most of you find the 6 ugly but I want put some 20's on it, exhaust and a drop. Most of my peers and friends are not car enthusiasts- I come to this board for insight and direction- tell me what you think. Have any of you driven the 6? I know about the M5- I drove one the other day and I know its pro's and cons.

Oh I can get the M6 below sticker too! Another remote option is a used 2005 CL65 that I can steal in the high 80's with 10k miles but then I have two benzes that are stoplight racers. Here are pics that you may have seen of my tt....

i would keep the porsche, then again i don't have one but understand how getting bored w/vehicles goes.i would only consider the m6 if it were in black w/red interior and six speed not smg.

Still though, hes got an E55 for when you need a sedan/straight line road burner. A 996TT which is also fast fast for fun and tops in handling and he wants to trade that for an M6 which is jack of all trades master of none? Doesn't sound like a good trade to me. He's already got all ends of the spectrum covered.

SL 65 AMG and E63s AMG
Having own various BMWs for 6 years, I would not recommend buying any of them after you have owned a E55. You can't go back. My wife loves her M3 and has 3 of them BUT she is finally seeing it my way and is going to get an slk63 when it's available. She likes the feel of a small car and the quickness but she's tired of the harshness, the lousy stereo and the lack of luxury in the M3. She also hates eating my dust all the time. IMO the M6 is too much like the E55 and the M5 and you would be kicking yourself for buying it.

I love P cars but I like torque better. I suggest saving money and buying a Viper, Z06 or wait for a Blue Devil. It's tough to go back to high RPMs and low torque.

Been there, done that, have the T shirt. Stick to big displacement and you'll be happy.

If you insist of getting an M6, make sure it's a Vert. I think this would make it sufficiently different than the E55 to appreciate the differences.

Thanks for the all replies, you are right the Porsche is an amazing car and even moreso with the upgrades but its getting old or maybe I am getting too old and sick of rowing on the streets of LA

I would love the 997tt but its too new thus there will be a huge sticker shock. Maybe I should get a Z06.... An SL65 is another option too.

yes the M6 Convertible will be arriving in the next few months.

BTW Vic, if you ever decide to sell the 996, I'll take the Sportecs off your hand. But IMO, you should not sell that car

I went from E55 -03 and 996 turbo -01 to a M5 and I don't regret it. Now the M5 is for sale and im thinking about Audi RS4, so why not buy a M6 if it's possible!? I would do it if I was you.

Cheers Kleiv

If I wanted the fastest car I should not sold my Porsche and instead bought at GT 700 conversion for it but that's not my cup of tea.

997TT for the nicer interior if you ask me. Heck, get the tip for a different experience compared to your 996TT.
