Thumbs down 7G Tranny exploded!

I have been driving my ML350 until my changeover to my new AMG. As it stands now im awaiting MBZ approval on a "Lease Takeover" of a 06' E55 AMG. This confirms my decision to stay away from the 7G tranny & the E63.
Check out the 7G tranny problems on the ML W164 board. Here's a link to my post there too: https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...=157310:smash:

I've always believed it is a bad idea to buy the first year of any new model, they always have problems which are resolved in subsequent years. It is true with almost every manufacturer.

I want to get the new S65 but I won't be buying an 07 or 08 I will wait for the 09. For three reasons for the bugs to be worked out and prices to be negotiable and to save up some $$$ that car costs a fortune!

I have always bought new bodies. Screw that excuse. If the car is defective, ram it back. what's the build date on the ML? Is it just rough, or did it flat drop (like mine)?

Jangy: It did a flat out die right on the spot! I had to have it towed to the dealer. The tranny was slipping so badly like a drive shaft was out or something. What a dissapointment!

7G tranny

I had the 7G tranny die on my 05 E500. The tcu was not functioning properly and therefore the tech found metal shavings in the tranny. MBUSA didn't say it was a recall but they would be calling in 05's and upgrading the tcu. It was a pain in the ***. Took 12-14 weeks to get a new tranny from Germany and after replacement I had them buy the car back. I am very skeptical of the 7 speed. I love the 5 speed in the E55.

Is that supposed to be a joke?

Don't worry deag and jangy, on my BMW I had the 6sp go out at around 10k miles or so. Got it swapped out. A few weeks ago the rear differential gave out, got that swapped too.
