Don't take it personal Derek, but I think the E has lost some customers for the CLS. Also, I think all gas guzzler car / SUV sales are pretty low right now.
Can't wait to hear how someone who really drives it feels about it.

Once they are on the lot, all shined up. I don't think they will be problem inventory.

I agree that this car will not collect too much dust on the lot. I took one for a spin tonight & you can definately tell it has 50 more ponies under the bonnet. Also, the tranny is very smooth with it shifts & the AMG wheel paddles work seemlessly!!

I personally love the 7g but agree it has had some issues with smooth downshfting as you come up to a stop light. WIDE OPEN THROTTLE shifts have always been flawless and thats the part I love the most!
I cant wait to test an E63! That motor is light years ahead of this 3 valve head we have on our cars. The air flow patterns and quality of the parts in this M113 motor is just terrible IMHO. The blower makes it scream down the road but its hardly more advanced than a pushrod Chevy!
Most tuners who tear these motors down say they are nothing that special but yes they do scream and have a very flat torque curve. The old M119 V8 seen in production between 1990 and 1999 makes the M113 motor look like junk. Just listen to a M113 idle and then find an 1992 500E or 500SEL and listen to the difference. One purrrs and the other clatters like a cold 1980's 300SD.
MB always has terrible issues with the first year of a new gear box. In 1997 the 5 speed tranny was put into wide production and I had 3 cars that year and each went through at least 1 tranny in the first 5k miles. They were horrible until the bugs were worked out. The same will go for the 7g box as well.
Vadim will tell you, the 63 motor is a true work of art. It might not be capable of sick power with just a pulley and a chip but it is a ture race motor with the reliability of a MB (no internal work needed for at least 150k miles of very hard driving).

These motors, although caveman like in technology and airflow are tanks IMO. We still have no clue as to what the new 6.3 holds for long term hard use on the street.
It's okay to disagree.....that's what makes the forum great.

Woah! What's this all about?? It's useful to have guys like Marcus letting us know when cars have arrived and giving us pics and prices! If you have nothing creative to say then keep it to yourself. I had a 5-speed auto before and the 7 speed is far superior. It is smoother on upshifts and downshifts. The 2-1 downshift is more pronounced in the begining but smoothens with mileage.

I can vouch, based solely on my personal experience, that the 7g gearbox in my SL500 has been very smooth and quick and has never given me any troubles. Now, if only the rest of the electonics worked as well as the 7g then I'd be even happier as an owner!
