CLS 63 Drifting Video - BRAND NEW
Remember you saw it first here,
And yeah I know its the E forum but most of my buddies are here so I thought I would post it here first. As I mentioned before they gave us several CLS63's to thrash at the AMG Challenge at Limerock this week. And in particular we had the opportunity to drift this one around the wet/dry skid pan - only had 240 miles on the dash.
Really easy to get the back out and hold it out - some used first gear - I preferred 2nd gear. Very controllable, so predictable. Without any practice I managed to almost drift a complete circuit, and two others in our group kept it sideways for a full circuit. This video is of Tommie Kendall - sideways in 2nd gear.
Dontya love that ultra sweet exhaust
Unedited video - Apple MOV file (9MB) - gonna take some time to download - better if you "right click and save as"
Enjoy

just depends on the location and whats available. This was the first skid pan I have done at an AMG challenge where the course leaders said - "guys there is nothing redeeming about this excercise - we just want you to have fun".
They encouraged us and coached us to keep the drift going for as long as possible. We had one ringer in our group (goes on this forum as mercedestuner - GJ is a full on racer) and he was able to keep the drift for almost two complete circuits.
At all the other events I have done, they would always get you to experience over or understeer and then bring it back to normal driving, and rap you hard on the knuckles if you tried to keep the drift going.
But judging by the overwhelmingly positive response, I can see this being added to future events.
An absolute blast for sure.

So all in all, siswati, CLS55 or CLS63?
I am going to put together as full report but for now I can say that the CLS63 felt great on the track, the gearbox was sweet, it was easy to toss around and keep drifting. Overall a great car for sure. No Question
But I dont have any 55k vs. 63NA comparisons yet. So not going to cast me vote yet.

You may be a CLS guy, but post on here anytime as we all know they share so much.
the asr stays activated though (kind of like an electronic lim slip diff)
