Weather update, it has suddenly changed for the better... instead of mid to high 90s, its now projected to be the coolest day of the week with a high of only 81 degrees!
God must like drag racing!

Damn, I was practicing launching with my Gtech Pro... I cannot for the life of me get under 2 seconds 60 foot. I actually understand why you might prefer no traction control... I got my lowest 0-60 and 60 foot times (2.05 ish), but I still had monster trouble with tire spin. With ESP on, I feather all the way out to 30mph, but still tip the ESP off over and over again. It is SO frustrating!!!
Meanwhile, I park the thing, get in my Jeep SRT8, take traction control off, hold the brake, bring it to 2k rpm and punch it while letting off the brake. BAM, 0-60 in 4.5 and a 60 foot of 1.90! IN MY DAMN JEEP !!!
God, 4 wheel drive in our cars would be the end of it all. Anyone have any other launch tips for K2 cars and their increased propensity to try and rotate the earth below them? While I know these dripping sticky drag radials we're going to throw on will help a LOT, I'd like to do well on stock tires too... or is that it? 60 foot times of 2secs for K2s on stock tires? Sometimes I get a great launch and at 20mph I push into just a tick too much and the tires let lose again. I know I'd do better on a non-K2 car... it makes launching so much harder now. If the LSD is helping, I can't imagine where. ARRGGGHHHH!!!

Put your car on dyno mode and slap on the DR's.

They're actually pretty easy to do once you've done it more than a couple times. The only issue is I don't own the required equipment to do the shots. It's not cost effective for me since I don't do these on a regular basis for a living like my friend does.

Have no idea... me new to drag racing.
FRACK, so I put on 265/30/19 Pilot sport cup tires today, thinking that the loss in size from 285/30/19 PS2s might be made up for by the R compound and 80 treadwear rating. The sport cups aren't available in 285s... just 265 and 305 sizes.
Result: Oil and water... I can now do monster rolling burnouts, spinning the suckers at 25mph endlessly in first gear. Still couldn't get my 60 foot down to earth... 2.112 was the best with these ***** of butter. Ironically I did blast a couple 4.0 0-60 times though (these are all Gtech figures, so who knows).
So, should I put the 285 PS2s back on, or just keep these sport cups on and see how they do when properly warmed up at the track?

definitely, but I do want to be able to compare street tires on a K2 to drag radials...
I completely look forward to tires that don't lose it so easily. I'm dying for 19" drag radials to be invented. The R compound in these sport cups is the closest I've come. Oh well...
So, you're going to take everyone, eh? What about that modified 911 TT?

I agree with Jrocket... the DR's are going to perform the best at the strip. I'll run whatever you're not running. Anything has got to be better than my 285 25 20's. LOL
Loren -- I can't believe you organized with it being your first trip to the track... AMAZING!!! Great leg-work Loren. I owe you my friend. You're next trip to Vegas... I've got you... just let me know what you need!

Warming up the R compound tires properly will make a HUuUGE difference. When i first got my DR's i didn't know how to properly warm them up (ESP cutting power even when turned off). Bill Wu (qualcomm65) was kind enough to put my car into dyno mode and ride along instructing me what to do on one of my runs. Wow, 60 ft's dropped 0.4 seconds with no loss of traction whatsoever. I went from a 265 to a 245 DR so I, too, reduced tire size. My regular tires were practically useless since no VHT was used on that particular makeshift track.

I already know I'm going to be the slowest. Does that mean I get a free lifetime supply of Kleenex?
