.........good idea but I doubt that any info is going to be gotten from this. It is like the press at a news briefing with a presidential press secretary. Lots of words but no concrete info. But will be nice to give it a try.

Rock, you forgot the asterisked comment that that accompanied the announcement:

(*Please note that Mr Allan will not be able to comment specifically on AMG Future Product Strategy or answer questions pertaining to the diagnosis of an issue related to your specific vehicle.)

Regardless, Rob can usually be counted on to give up some reliable glimpses of what's in the pipeline, while satisfying the AMG/MB powers-that-be. He's had plenty of experience walking that tightrope.

Hey, this is a first for AMG - gotta start somewhere. I'll definitely be there.

I missed it ()*&(*&(_* I was pi$$ed.

Dinko got it in for us though. It was responded to pretty much as we thought.

Another good idea. AMG is one of the best development groups in terms of "charging" which is either supercharging or turbocharging and the new 63 V-8 would be well-suited to such an application.

No news yet on actual plans though.

********Then Dinko goes for it again and gets teased yet again***

There are no near term plans for a 6.3 turbo - would have to be a biturbo / twin turbo.

***Great job Dinko on staying on him, he wouldn't budge though.

Dayum!!!!

Then I guess Stiggs tried to pin him down.

No turbo version 63 AMG is planned for the near term.

*******Guess we can all start wondering what "near term" means.

My review is GREAT JOB by all!! The word turbo came up so many times, he would be blind not to see what we really want. Hopefully this can have some type of impact of production of the turby 6.3, if it ever really happens.

Definitely sounds like a non issue in next year's 08 roll out. This just fuels the fire for a twin turb rollout in 2008 for the 2009 W212.

Gosh I hope I am wrong.

"Near term" to me means not now - he could ahve said "NO". Also he did say if it were turbo it would be biturbo - I guess thats obvious ... but he obviously had some insight into this...

They need to work out the tranny issue first, before they can turbo charge that damn sexy 6.2 engine

no one even bothered to mention it. it would have been nice if the discussion wasn't right in the middle of a work day for many of us so important questions like that could at least have been side stepped.

It did not sound like he was going to discuss this issue, even if asked.

hence the reason i stated "side stepped". although technically, it doesn't just pertain to "my specific vehicle" since it is obviously not an isolated problem.

regardless, it should have been brought up...and would have if the session wasn't scheduled right in the middle of my work day.

Hey another positive that came out of last night that I just noticed.

Rob posted

The good news is that the AMG 7 speed automatic is already formidable in terms of shift speed and torque transfer. The main area of interest at AMG is in the development of this transmission further.
They beef up that 7 Speeder and Klee comes out with a blower or turbo, I am all for having some fun with the 6.3. We'll see.

I think thats just it - I reckon they are chomping at the bit to get the 2 proposed TT versions out and the 6.3 into the S and SL classes but need to get the tranny up to speed first ... so in my opinion there will DEFINATELY be Turbo units and you will see them as soon as the tranny has had some muscle added.

How is it that the flagship AMG models don't have the new flagship AMG motor ??? Its coming guys be patient...
