OH, before I forget....look at my friggin Green Filters GRRRRR!!
They seemed to go in just fine and I preached the "Green Filter Gospel"
So good I never checked on them (cept when I thought they needed cleaning which was coming up)
Then the mechanic slid me over and showed me THIS.
Thank GOD I did not suck something large or it's motor toasting time. I just can't believe the Greens would be this far off.
Word to the wise. Look at the pics and make you own call on these.
Back to K&N's for me.

I found the same problem when I tested the ITG air filters. The 2003 - 2004 cars are using 355mm x 135mm airfilters and they are a snug fit. I think the newer E55 have a slightly smaller bottom opening... Its only a few mm difference, but enough that if the airfilters are made for the newer cars, they will collapse in the older cars.
Make sure when you buy airfilter replacements, the measurements are 355x135.
Glad you caught it in time!

I think it could be a combination of the fact that maybe the construction of the greens isn't up to snuff, and the fact that with your mods that beast could suck in a toddler standing next to the car.

After reading this I went and popped the airboxes open on my car and look what I found. Driver side had fallen down into the box. As I was trying to straighten it out I noticed the lip that would otherwise hold the filter in place had become extremely soft and pliable, it had no rigidty to it at all. You could bend the lip with the slightest touch and as I tried to reposition it in the box the lip all around kept giving way and falling into the box. It was like working with playdough. Unfortunately I don't have any other filters at the moment, tossed the stocks. I managed to balance it in there and slam the top on, hope it holds. I looked at the passenger side and it was still in place, the rubbery lip was soft like the other but it was stuck in place from being in there and I dared not disturb it and closed it up.
Is it possible the rubbery material the Greens are made of was made soft by the extreme heat our engines put out? The car had been sitting since about 5pm yesterday so the engine was cold. I'd stay far far away from these things. I'm ordering some K&Ns now to replace them.
I also managed to drop my flashlight way down into the engine compartment.

Sorry to see so many of you having the "melting" issue mentioned last week. Like I said then, forget the hype and go to K&Ns. I got flamed then, let's se if I get flamed now that there is PROOF.

I suspect that either the filter was too small or it wasn't correctly fitted.
I just opened mine and the filter is still firmly stuck to the lid of the airbox. The fit is so tight that I could not remove it. No problems here!
Thank you for the warning!

Wanted to apologize for going nuts on the Green Filters. Guess I just had to vent. Mechanic literally said my throttle body was filthy from this and it took ahwile to clean it.
Putting K&N's back on for now until I can figure out what the heck happened. We tried over and over to put them back in but they just flopped inside. I can tell you, they did NOT flop inside when I put them in. They seated very nicely. Who knows.
Again my apologies to Green Filters for trashing the product. Any number of variables are at play here from my install on down the line.

I really don't know why everyone is so crazy about replacing filters, the performance gain is minimal if anything and K&N's, Green filters have been shown to flow more dirt in addition to the improved airflow.

Green Filters
I had the same problem. I called Green and they took care of me. Had my filter the next day and they paid shipping back of the old one. The new filter had a higher density mold, def stronger. Twenty thousand miles later I check it everyweek and its like the car... PERFECT. Good company, took care of me, even got a hat out of the deal..haha. Just had a bad run I guess. Green is an awesome company that will get my business again. Call them up, they'll take care of it.
