I'm 99.9% certain it was a typo. Before the SLR cams if I remember correctly he was putting down 560 rwtq, which would make a healthy gain of 24 rwtq with the SLR cams which is AWESOME!!!! But to gain 124 rwtq is just silly. You don't even get that kind of gain by adding a s/c.

AS soon as we get to the real tq# here?? 584/684 ??? You can count me in on these cams. I'de be willing to bet they give a better Hp figures then the aftermarket cams. I'm in (for now-assuming no issues with Jakpro's)

if these cams were put in a stock sl55 what would the gain be? would other upgrades be needed to get where your e55 is today with kleeman upgrades. what are all the upgrades you have done plus the cams? thanks

They have another feature on the Mustang Dyno that shows what the car can do with nearly no wheel spin in the 1/4. YOU READY...car pulled 11.06 with a 60' of 1.4. Yeah kinda cheesy, but FUN AS HELL!!!

Wait til you see their reaction to the dyno...it's priceless!!

Jakpro are these the mustang dyno numbers or the dynojet correction numbers given by the mustang software ?.

Wow, that is quite a remarkable figure considering the SLR produces around 575 ft/lbs at the engine.

This is a joke, right?
SLR produces 626hp and 575 lbsft at the crank which would roughly translate into 515hp and 485 ft lbs at the wheels. How does a single part like the cam make the E55 go to 648 ft lbs? Why would anybody buy another super expensive SLR when they can just purchase a twisted crow bar and stick it in their ageing E55?

Okay, now that I am off my sugar rush, obviously something is wrong here.

Just that the guys are all "high fiving" around the dyno and stuff, and you get kinda caught up in the moment. Glad you guys are here to put some reality into it. I think we had a problem snagging torque numbers.

HP numbers seem to be accurate....torque is not. We had some trouble picking up the rpm's and he is pretty sure now that affected torque numbers. Please don't ask me how, I am nothing like Grumpy and VRUS on knowledge of the cars.

Least we got an accurate reading of the hp numbers. Meantime, gonna look for a dynojet in the Valley to see if we can get some numbers to match up to the old ones.

Really sorry bout this guys. I literally was floating on air last night and wasn't using my brain.

Here is old dyno.

Here's the new one.

A few things guys:

1) The SLR cam specs are similar if not EXACTLY the same as the Kleemann cams. When I was talking to the guy who was going to make me the cams this information was imparted in not so many words.

2) There is only 1 set available in all of North America and I just locked it up and put them on hold. We'll figure out what to do with them later.

3) We are waiting for AMG Germany to get back to us on pricing.. I asked for QTY 5 and QTY 10 pricing.. We'll see what they say.. I was told retail is $1190each side = $2380USD for the set.

4) Jim was hovering around 480rwhp and 560rwtq before upgrades..That means even if the torque reading was off and it was 584, he would have netted 32rwhp and 24rwtq!!! That my friends is a very worthwhile upgrade if we can get them for $2200USD!!!

I've always been using a 17% drivenline loss factor because that's what most people argue is the correct #.. Its conservative, but, it shows Jim's car is at 617hp..

Let's wait and see what happens once he installs the 80mm TB. I am sure that will really wake up his car. He would have gone a bit rich with the addition of the cams, so the TB will make use of that extra fuel very well!

Victor,
Just got off the phone with my delaer, I have known the guy for a while so he gives me 20% off as i order under my friends shops name, I could get them for $955 each, we need the set so that sets you at $1,910.00 for the set not bad for the extra HP!. He also mentioned this, I am not sure if that is correct but he said why don't I just grind my E55 cam to the specs of the SLR one and it would be much cheaper, well...what do you think? And yes you are correct there is only one set in the whole country and it is here in NJ, after that runs out they will have to special order them.

Some more info guys:

1) Rocker Arms in SLR are SAME part # as the rocker arms in our cars.. No need to change those.

2) SLR Cam Sensor retails for $215

3) SLR Cam Gear retails for $80.

For the next person to step up and want to install the cams, we should order the Cam Sensor & Cam gear and see if they fit.. No sense in everyone buying them if they dont work..

Ahh hell.. I may just order the whole kit and send my car down to the dealer for an install..

-------------------------
Hey Jody,

Awesome price!! Since there is only 1 set, the rest will have to come from Germany.. I'll see what AMG says when I get the email back from them.

Just as long as we are all under the reality that these are NOT plug and play cams.

My stock cam gear literally SHEARED off the cam sensor just like a cheese grater and placed nice little metal particles on that side of the motor. Mechanic had to clean out the system and I am still going back in for another oil change in a few hundred miles.

We WILL have to figure out this issue whether we need SLR cam gears or if you guys are happy grinding down the cam gear to make tolerance.

Just wanna make sure noone goes into this and has engine failure do to half the cam sensor cheese graded into their motor.

There is zero information about how to do this (degree the cam) and my installer just popped the new one into place identically as he took the old one out. There are no instructions from AMG on how to degree an SLR cam for an E55.

If you are not willing to put up with the headaches this possibly could cause, I beg of you, please call Cory at Kleemann. Their cams are dialed in and ready to go....not a single problem ever reported.

Again, please just make sure you know what you are getting into before messing with these. I love modding and the 1800-2000rpm idle I have now with one stall in traffic so far is just part of the fun.

I agree with Jim... Everyone should understand these are not plug & play. (Jim.. Glad you made this post!)

If you dont want to fool around, call Kleemann and order the cams from them and you will have zero headaches. The last time I checked with Cory, they were selling for $4,200 or $4,400.. cant remember exactly.

I imagine Jakpro that you will need a new tune also. I think then and only then will you really see the true numbers the cams put out.

Hmmm What else can be robbed from the SLR to be put in our cars???
