Does anyone know if the magazine's break in the motor before testing it out for performance numbers?

 

Not a chance. They run the car that is provided. Rarely, a trully impartial entity will buy a car on their budget (which could still be funded by the manufacturer) and do long term tests. Take all published claims with a grain of salt.
