Holy COW!!! That 993TT is EXACTLY what I wanted. Is this an omen?

WOW, though, they really hold their value.

Just to clarify, I am not really interested in a 996 TT as i know it will get old to me quick and I will want a 997. I was, however, hoping the 993 would be cheaper, but it looks like they aren't.

As far as the GT3 vs TT argument. I have aspirations of tracking it, but I know that reality is it will be a street racer more than not. I do not mind the rough ride (actually looking forward to it), but will I have times when the extra HP/TQ of the TT would be better? I personally am worried because acceleration is more important on the street than it is on the track as the car is typically already up to speed for the most part. Basically, I'd hate to get a GT3 and it NOT be an outright DREAM car. I already know the TT would, especially when I mod it for improved handling, etc.

The supercars are too flashy for me. the Ford GT is an option, however that i do like. I just do not want to get one and have it fall apart with a few miles.

For now, i will call the cat about the 993TT. Hoehn will sell me a 997TT/GT3 at invoice, but that is probably it. Keep the ideas coming. The purchase is still ontrack with a late fall due date!!

im voting 993TT!!! like you say 996 may get old. 993 is set in concrete as the last of the "real" 911 beasts!!!

Not to dis the S8 in any way, but the ONLY sedan I am considering is the S550. I even gave up on the 750iL. Actually, the S is even a last ditch IF I do not come up with a decent "dream" car for about $100K.

First off, can I have your invoice deal for a TT! LOL! Secondly, only you will know the answer to this but as far as the HP/TQ/acceleration goes here's my take. Again, this is my opinion and you may think i'm an *** but what the hell!

When I sold my E55 to DragonAMG to get a C2S I was very concerned that I would miss the brutal HP and TQ of that car. Would I do it again? Every day and twice on Sunday. You won't miss the HP cause you'll still have the E55 for that. Believe me i wish I could have kept both The p-car will just give such a different driving experience you might not miss it as much as you think.

Not at all The S550 is a great car as well. Just from the list compiled, though the S8 or even the S65 might fit the bill

As much as I love the new 997TT I would still have to give my vote to the 993TT. Such classic timeless design...loving it!~!

I am pretty sure I can get that deal for anyone as well. i never realized invoice was such a good deal?? Ask around here and you'll see i get quite the deals WITHOUT the hassles for some.

As far as the missing part. Keep in mind that I am comparing a TT to a GT3. The E55 is going NOWHERE. Given that, do you feel that the raw handling of the GT3 is that much greater than the TT (given rear drive, etc) to make it worth giving up the power of a TT? the price is VERY close depending on options, and i like all my biatchees loaded.

See my comments on the Land Cruiser. Any word on a new body style any time soon?

Great car, though.

The 993TT is about as raw as it gets man. With a few choice RUF pieces and a turbo upgrade you're going to be doing rings around GT3's. TT>>>>>NA.

This is funny. I just sold my 1997 993tt. Had it for almost 4 years. Wonderful car, but quite honestly I just got sick of driving it. I bought it with 14k miles on it and sold it with 28k miles. Sold it for what I paid for it after driving it for almost 4 years! Buy one right and you can drive it for free like I did!

Just bought an S2000 for some cheap, practical fun and put the balance back in the bank. Nothing as satisfying as downsizing your lifestyle.

A few years, word on the street is that it'll be based of Sequoia and not LC.
I was half kidding though about the LX470. Don't get it, don't you already have a Commandarararr?

Get an SL. It's two cars in one.

S2000 rocks. I almost got one black on black but realized that it'd be hell to drive to college and back.

I think for some the driving characteristcs of the GT3 will far outweigh the additional HP of the TT. I haven't driven the GT3 (no one has) so can't say. Maybe you should put your name on the list for this!!

You can't go wrong with the 993TT..I loved my 96'.However...
After I got the Gallardo last fall I never drove the 993TT and sold the car.
Just a few weeks ago,a lightly modded 97TT w/11k miles owned by a local Madison owner sold for 69k.

Jangy, if you looked at Nobles follow through and try and get a test drive. My friend lives in Leicester and is a designer for Lee's company. He tests them on backroads and says nothing is as sorted. Interior is a little iffy but chassis, gearbox etc are superb. The M400 is 407bhp/tonne. They are built with a meticulous attention to detail even Porsche GT3's can't match. They won't hold there value like a GT3 and will be difficult to service but you said you liked "extreme."

The Noble is as happy on the road as it is on the track and there are few, if any, other cars you can say that about.

BTW, as for off roaders, don't discount the Range Rover. That thing is almost unstoppable on 18s, as is the LR3. They also double up as fine transport for 4 people too.

What about a Z4 M, if its a second car, might as well make it a fun track/canyon carver. What about a radical/arial atom, or the new Noble M15? Youve already got a fast straight line care, might as well get something to track around in or carve the canyons with. If you dont like that, what about an AMV8 Vantage?

Great idea with the Atom!! I agree with you. He's keeping the 55 so the need for all out straight speed should not be the first criteria. A 997S would give him all the thrills he's looking for without spending major $$. Now, if he was selling the E55 that's a different story.

The AM is nice but way overpriced in my opinion. More show than go I think. That kind of coin there are other alternatives - especially for an extra car.

Jangy, you don't mind we're making decisions for you, do you?!

It seems the guys on the Lambo boards I read are mixed pretty evenly on egear/6sp. I had an M3smg for my daily before I got the E55.My opinion of the smg was that it is a pisspoor automatic and a brutally harsh manual.
The car would slam so hard under full power during shifts I was amazed it even held together. It took some time to get really comfortable with a gated 6sp. but now that I am,it's great.I still have a 911 carrera and it feels sloppy now to shift.
