I'm sure they tweaked the output for the higher end models just like they detuned the CLK63. Then again I officially don't trust anything MB says anymore, this whole situation seems like a massive cover-up, with the mass-load limiting of 55K's with the "air pump" recall and the fact that Derek's car made a "paltry" 380 whp.

Am I starting to sound like Gustav? I'll stop.

Heh, 525hp at like 20,000rpm and only as you gently nudge over 250mph, but at that point, it's RIGHT THERE for ya!!

Meanwhile you E55 maniacs make it all at 2,000rpm. Discrepancy? I think so. I can't believe AMG actually attempted to "spin" low rpm torque into a "bad" thing.

Went online to yahoo Uk and punched in E63, there are articles about the E63 and they all seem positive and I believe these article are based on test drives.

.............I think a little thick skin is needed here by E63 supporters. I don't think anyone is bashing the E63. In fact there has been high praise for the E63's handling and road course manners. It is just not what typical AMG buyers want. Saying that the E63 is like an M5 is high praise indeed. The M5 is one of the best 4 door sedans in world. And the ML63 because of its aggressive gearing appears to be quite fast. The CLK63 is so much faster than the CLK55, so its owners are happy. It is with the E55 owners that things go wrong. You can't blame them for desiring a faster car. As for the CL63. Beautiful, beautiful car. I was a bit concerned about the new CL's styling but AMG has done an incredible job with it.........but, what is a potential buyer to do. The CL63 will likely be slower than a biturtubo CL600 and not as fast as the outgoing CL55. It might take big hit. In this major league of automobiles, bragging rights apparently do matter.

Ted

Seeing the way M-B and AMG are headed, I think a 2005-2006 CL65 would be a much better bang for the buck, not to mention a more attractive vehicle.

You guys keep saying typical AMG buyers, but lets face it just many of us fans crying on here that want more torque. Majority of the AMG buyers just want power and the E63 has plenty of it. We dont represent the masses of those buying AMG's.

As for me I love my E63 and it runs quite a bit faster than the E55 it replaced.

i see nothing wrong with 484lb.ft. of torque and i doubt anyone would be crying for more if the e63 proved itself in the 1/4mile. so far it hasn't...hopefully it will on friday.

Have you run either on a track or a dyno? Or is it "seat of the pants" faster?

I have to question your attitude towards us E63 owners. I think you need to take your head out of your ***.

no offense intended and i know i'm sounding like a broken record but if your 55 was recalled and given the last flash then that also brings your results into question.

Head out of my ***? I just questioned the merit of your "scientific" test a$$hole.
Why don't you call AMG and have this published in Road & Track! You really are the one with your head up your ***! I just guess we'll have to wait for the real tests won't we? and not rely on you and your family (no offense to your family) But you need some serious help so STFU!

I don't think they do/did. They are keeping the 55K engine in the SL55 facelift for some reason you'd think.

Uh...I did, as evidenced by my post...I just have a different opinion than the prevailing on the reality of this "phenomenon"
