I think we'd have better success on the road outside the track if we were looking at 0-60 times... I mean, people were sliding around so much, we'd have horrible 0-60 times across the board as well..

I have all cats because I'm in CA... I don't know if Josh had his front pair out, which is the typical K2 setup... I also have the LSD, he does not (that's a whole different thread debate, I'm sure).

Here's Loren's guide to the whole ECU debacle:

Here are the types of E55s on the road today:

1) Stock E55 (no ECU flash by MB yet)

2) Stock E55 with ECU flash by MB (the controversial one).

3) K2 ORIGINAL program (the one they load over #1 above when you buy K2)

4) K2 NEW AND IMPROVED (will only work IF YOU HAD THE MB FLASH, #2. It improves previous K2 performance with the new MB flash taken into consideration. Rock and Dragon have this. There are a few of us where this new and improved program does NOT work. Our superchargers are turned off. No amount of reprogramming or tweaking fixes it. Thus, Kleemann rolls us back to #3, the original program, to get us operational. They tell us to stay tuned as they are working on a fix.

The difference between #3 program and #4 is readily apparent.... eg, the difference between Josh & my car for the most part.

So, here's a look at my life in the ECU recall world:

1) Stock ECU when I bought the car 4/05
2) K2 Program added after K2 install 11/05
3) MB flash recall added 7/05. Immediately send to Kleemann for new K2 program since old one was over written by recall. New K2 program touted as much improved. New K2 program does not work on my ECU... 3 attempts shipping ECU back and forth unsuccessful.
4) K2 Program from #2 put back on ECU, since it at least worked. This K2 program is pre MB recall... so in essence, I have had the recall and gone backwards to pre recall programming. I will still have secondary injection blah blah blah issues, in other words. But MB will have on record that I've had the ECU recall done. Fun.

Hope this helps!

Loren

E55 (for sale if the right offer comes along)...too many others to list
Sorry to hear about the track conditions, but it looks like you guys made the best of it. I would love to join you guys at the next one!

Way to go Josh I had a feeling you would get the best numbers. One hell of a beast! Looking forward to meeting you next month.

Loren,
Sorry to hear about your troubles bud. You know I was there a few months ago. Just get Vrus 80mmTB installed and that will make up the difference. Your car is beautiful and quite the machine.

How was the LSD on the track vs. the other guys without it?

From what I saw,Lorens LSD didnt seem to be working all that well, atleast not in the water box or burn out area.Off the line I couldnt tell much loss but it definately was not transferring the power equally.I forgot to mention that too Loren. If it was working well then I'd pass on buying one in the future for my car.Dragons car worked just as well without I believe.

i'm a witness...

I have not read the rest of the posts.. but I was there.

The official at the office took the number from the M6, but the run was for the E55 k2.

114 was his highest trap, but that is 4mph above any stock 55 or 63.

Wow! It sounds like you guys had a blast despite poor track conditions and all of this talk makes me even more excited about my new E55!!!

I have to say, that Josh's car seems very fast but considering his C55 was a monster as well, I give him a lot of credit when it comes to knowing how to run his cars. That or lightning struck twice and he got the fastest of each car! Good runs and the pics look great too! Definitely wallpaper/desktop worthy!!!

The faster cars still managed to distinguish themselves.

...........So, M5, E63, and post-mb flash stock E55's are similar. The E63 is definitely not faster than the E55 and all those published numbers for the e63 that put it in the cruise missile category are apparently false. The post mb-flash E55's don't have a huge margin to brag with.

...........post mb-flash K2 is slower than reprogrammed post-mb flash K2. For those that still think that nothing happened to their engine ECU during the recall work, you may wish to think again.

..........The M6 is the fastest stock car by a wide margin.

I'm not sure I totally agree with the ecu flash thingy. While I realize some have had issues, esp the 02-03 crowd, I ran last night and was consistently in the 12.43 to 12.53 range ( 6 runs). Took down an 05 viper and 05 c6 vette in the process running stock everything.

Taking down the viper and c6 doesnt really mean anything, not down playing your game there but I was taking down the 911TT until he learned how to drive.

What matters is the weather conditions, track conditions and your time slip numbers. What was your best mph?ET?60'? Etc,id like to see and compare.Any idea what the weather was,not just cold or hot either. It all makes a difference.12.4-12.7 seem to be average, nice too.

thanks for the write up and pics...... great shots!

maybe the 2005 ECU's can't take new program, but 2004's can? any more data on this?

.........others have run 12.0 stock. K2's run mid 11's to 11.3. Check dragtimes.com. All this before recall of course. I don't know if aything is wrong with your specific car, but you should be competing against C6 Z06 and turbo 911's.

Yep,if you look at Dragtimes, every 03-06 E55 is in the 12's or faster.

Jrocket,

My best ET was 12.4391 with 113.07 MPH. 0-60' was 1.9091. Worst was 12.5368 with 112.55. 0-60' was 1.9427 with traction control off. Weather was clear with temps at race time about 65-68 degrees. Not sure on the humidity. The track conditions were excellent with the grounds crew vht'ing the track every hour and a half or so...hence such good traction off the line.

As an addendum as in my earlier post this morning, with the ecu reflash I have noticed less wheelspin on the street, however, looking at dragtimes.com there are only a few slips I saw that were in the low 12's and one only in the 11's that was stock. Most stocks seemed to be mid 12's like me. As you said earlier, weather can play a factor. I'm not trying to flame or anything as I am new to the drag thing like Loren and many others. These are just my observations from last night.

Another aside...I would have loved to run against a z06 or 911, but there were none to be had!

So sorry about that. I guess I must have been racing while you were racing and sitting out while you were sitting out because I don't see you in any of my cameras. I borrowed a pic from Mugman (I hope he's okay with it. If not, I will be glad to remove ) so I could at least include you in the vid. I wasn't trying to intentionally exclude you.

Click on the vid again. Your car should now be in the section with the stills.
