Any News From The East Coast Track Day?

Jrocket,
with a 0.35 sec increase in times would that equate to HP loss post ecu flash or can that be attributed to track and or temp variations? What was the weather during his previous attempt?

Also heard the E63 was a no show as of right now
Next up....Atlanta in November.
If I had Treynor style cash, I'd buy this mother f'er just to race it and finally get a solid answer.
Wow, this is just unreal.

Depending on the previous events weather, the slower times ran today would be from the current weather listed above.
Waynes times are .5-.6 quicker and 2-3 mph faster than what I ran last Friday at the Cal event.I was on stock Contis ans hes on Nitto R's right now.Need to find out his 60' and 1/8th times now.

The SAE standard for barometric pressure is: 29.234 / 990
This heavy air will more than compensate for the slightly high temperature. The trap speeds are down for some other reason.

Not really. The SAE temperature standard is based on 77 degrees, only 5 degress less. But more importantly, the barometric pressure is high:

Not sure on the weather info that you posted,Im by no means at all a weather guru. What i did do was use some inputs and try to find the current DA for the track.I came up with 1600' +/- a few ft.What did you come up with.A higher baro will help out,but also the dew point is high and the humidity is high.Thats going to hurt more than the baro's slight increase...no?

Hey guys, just stopped at the house to post really quick...
There were 2 stock E55s today, one with Contis and me on my Nittos. Both of our cars are "flashed". We essentially ran the same times, the track was prepped so well that I ran my best times with my Nittos at 32psi and it was dead hooking. The car on stock Contis was dead hooking, no wheelspin off the line.
Suspension in comfort, tranny in sport, ESP off (didn't matter). I also tried the "ECU reset" sequence twice and it made absolutely no difference.
The weather was the reason for running slower today. Here is my best timeslip:
rt .570
60' 1.831
330 5.236
1/8 8.024@88.24
1000 10.429
1/4 12.448@112.35
My previous best was
60' 1.853
330' 5.157
1/8 7.863@91.13
1000' 10.201
1/4 12.168@115.29
My previous best was made in December, I think the temps were 30-40 deg cooler. Big difference Track temps today were in the 90s, it was 99-100 listed on our timeslips.
12.44@112.35 in the heat, I can't see there being any argument from those that own and race E55s - it doesn't seem like the car has slowed down at all.
I'll post a pic of the timeslip when I get a chance.

I had similar runs last Friday night with post flash '05. After looking at all the legitimate stock time slips (no exhaust, filter, drag radials, etc) on dragtimes.com for our machines, I didn't seem to think so either. What do I know, however as that was my first time on a dragstrip (I think my neck is getting a little red...but I LOVED IT!!! )

Well I'm setting up another event in late october on a friday. Maybe you can make it to that one. We had alot of no shows, at least you had a good excuse! Watching the supra run a 10.5 in that heat was amazing! We had a bunch of 996TT's show up (all the Porsche guys that said they were coming showed up) as well as a ford gt, a couple E55's, 2 super street cars that ran deep in the single digits, modded new viper, C32, and my clk. A S2000 turbo showed up at the end of the day. I should be picking up a new car for the event in October, hint is it has a kleemann s/c on it!

No problem. Glad I could help (and by help, I mean have a great time hanging with gearheads and beating on my car) It was a shame I didn't get the chance to beat up on... er... compare my car to an E63
I think there are E55s that have post-recall/flash issues, but it doesn't seem to be an across the board thing. If you can't spin the tires from a dig you have serious issues, otherwise the recall/flash is just another update from MB. I can't speak to the issue of modded cars, just my stocker.
Also, heatsoak/supercharger shutdown is brought up around here occasionally. That also seems to be a sporadic thing. As soon as we got to the track, I lined up. I was playing with launches/burnouts, so my ET/MPH varied a little. Here are my runs:
11:30am - 12.64@110.5
11:39am - 12.61@110.8
11:42am - 12.52@112.0
11:44am - 12.44@112.4
I did this all day, I would line up and run 4-6 passes back to back without any drop in MPH, usually running my best time of the series at the 2nd or 3rd pass.
It was damn hot and no issues.
