According to my stop watch by timing the video, the 430 was even at about 9-10 seconds which would put you at around 100mph. Very very very respectable.
When you floor your E63, do you get the ESP light on?
I was wondering if an LSD would help the 63 series since its down on the torque it might not need one for straight line performance.

AMG 55,
Thanks for your reply. When I test drove a CLS63 with a salesperson in the car in "D"(hopefully that means 1st gear - not sure from what I have been reading) with ESP on and I too had no ESP flashing or any tire spin.
I think AMG reworked the ECU so it would be maximum effort to get the car out of the gates instead of spinning the tires.
When I raced my friends 540i, he was always out of the gates faster because I have to be carefully not to just sit and spin. Of course once I hooked up, it was a different story.
So basically, an LSD is not needed for a good launch with the CLS63. I wonder if we brake torque it, what would happen.

Really what is the price diff? Only 2 seats..Wonder if the sl65 could hang? Good job by the 63 when compared to the m5 . I think the 63 would suffer the same fate on a road course. The 430 is a super car

Sometimes we just want to know where we stand comparing to the exotic super cars, for me it's just fun to know. On the contrary, the F430 is probably one of my favorite super cars that actually performs, handle, and rides pretty comfortably for long trips unlike Lamghbo can really take a toll on your back (back pain) if driven long distance.

How could it possibly be "faster" to try to time shift points, etc manually, than to let the computer take you to redline and shift each time? The only way i could see that being the case is IF you want to shift BEFORE the redline. Do our cars peak in power at such low RPMs that this is the case? If so, what is the optimal median RPM that one would try to shift around?

To shift manually is to time the rpm range and where the rpm drops and still lies in the optimal power band. You will need to dyno your car to know where your power band is at, sometime shifting too early will get you upshift into a higher gear at a lower than optimal power brand, while shifting too late you are loosing too much HP and torque towards redline. The trick is finding where your shift point is and upshifting still lies in the best power range.

In the E55, I would be surprised if the gains were the same. The car seems to fall flat above 5500 rpm.
I will try before-and-after next time at the track.

Over a hundred timeslips don't lie......I could get about 200 RPM more by shifting manually. With breathing mods, the power band had moved slightly upward, and it was worth .08 - .11 in the quarter to shift manually.

I'm not challenging you, I just wanted some "proof". Also, I know american muscles cars that have more of a hill shaped curve do best if manually shifted. i was simply talking about the E55. I know for a fact that the auto mode with the accelerator punched (means the little button at the bottom is clicked) takes the engine to the limit. Manual mode gets no "extra" revs, just a bounce of the limiter if you miss.

No challenge inferred ! The car was actually a Japanese car (Infiniti G35x)

I haven't tried it on the E55 yet. Stock, I would be surprised to see any gains. With breathing mods, maybe. I'll withold judgment until I'm able to generate meaningful data.
