V1 DIY install.....

Anyone have a link to a do-it-yourself install of the Valentine 1 in a W211? I saw that there was a CLS install and wasn't sure if it was the same. Also, it would seem you could tap into a power wire in the sun-roof/cabin lighting console. I had hardwired this V1 before in the M3. Anyway, let me know if you guys have any insights. Don't wanna pay someone for something I can usually do. Just need to find the appropriate wire. Thanks....

Which wire is the live wire w/ ignition on? I have the original wiring of the V1 and can simply tap into it and ground the other wire.

The only 2 places that have 12v are the front headlights and the cig lighters. Everywhere else is low voltage and wont work. My installer found that the front headlight controller was easier to get to than the cig lighter but that was without knowing anything about the car. (Originally he did this on my 03 E500 and no online info or other info was available for review.)

BTW I have done all the work on my cars until the most recent Benzs came out. They are different animals and very easy to foul up. I would suggest getting an exact instruction article or a MB repair guide. The link above doesn't work so I am not able to peruse it.

You've got to go around the world to the lighter. It's not that big of a deal. Go to Radio Shack and get a 12 foot phone cord for the install...you'll need all of it. Make sure that you verify wire color/polarity in the phone cord before you close everything up. Job time 1: hr + 3: Michelob Ultras.
