Red Puddle Under Car
Just got back from my honeymoon to an ugly surprise. Theres a puddle of red fluid under my car that extends out past the front of the car. Red must be either transmission or power steering right? I dont want to start the car for fear of damagind something. Any thoughts? The car is an '06 with about 13000 miles on it. Thanks in advance.

2003 CL55 Kompressor Horizon Blue Metallic
My CL55 may be a little different (tandem power steering/ABC pump), but the power steering fluid is pentosin (blue green). Anti-freeze is blue-green as well.

Same thing happened to my C32 when i first got it in 2001, it's the tranny fluid. I had a defective o-ring which led to the leak, they replaced it & i never had a problem again.
Good luck
p.s. Congrats on the honeymoon!!!

I would have thought they fixed it in the 06 units... that's why I didn't even consider it a possible cause.
But yes, I'm pretty sure that plug has a TSB on it... and I guess they only address it if a problem arises.
Mine tranny was only half full when they found the leak... which overflows into another plastic pan, and not to the ground... until its really bad...
glad you got it worked out...

The transmission electrical plug leaking trans fluid is a common problem. But with the update plug & seals it shouldn't cause you any more trouble in the future.

crap, my 2006 with 2300 miles on it has a puddle underneath it ![Frown](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
luckily it was in my garage which is epoxied, so it was an easy clean up. I left the car in the driveway, but no leaks.
Is there a way to check the fluid level in the transmission? I was planning on taking the car out over the weekend.

reviving an old thread...
I'm having the same issue..
so I decided to buy 5 qt's of ATF, new gasket and filter and perform the usual transmission flush.
Looks like the leak is less than before but not gone.
The next step is to get the seal fixed.
anybody have a picture or diagram of this part and the part #.

Superseded part number is A203 540 02 53.
It’s a straightforward task to R&R the seal. Figure ~one hour of labor from your competent technician.
