"we put the e63 on WRC Technologies rolling road, it made a nice round 500bhp-add a few bhp to take account of the auto box, and thats very impressive."
-EVO. 096
i take that as at the wheels
(thats roughly 575)
i think mb misplaced the 7, if this dyno is to be believed
opinions?

Is EVO a magazine?
What does "096" refer to?
The reference to a "rolling road" sounds like a dyno measuring horsepower at the rear wheels, not the crank. Do we know which it was?

If so, what was the issue month and what else did it say? 0-60 times? 1/4 mile times?
I am no expert, but isnt it true that if its got rollers that this is not a dyno measuring brake hp? It would be measuring rear wheel hp.
Something seems strange here.

I've noticed the European testers all seem to be very impressed with the E63, saying it is faster than the E55. However, many actual owners in the USA are not. Something fishy here...

It is odd that no US mags have done tests on the E63, but I am sure that is just a matter of time. The truth, whatever it is, will eventually come out.

I dont think we will ever find out the TRUTH regarding the E63 vs. E55 (Steve, you saw the results and experienced it at the Fontana Raceway). We should just be happy with what we have and MOVE ON with our daily life between AMG family. We should be hunting for the M5s & M6s.

I would take a bit more handling and braking for a bit less torque and 2 extra gears.
what I can't take.. is not being able to up my power with $3k (pulley and chip)
I love the E63 over my E55.. but I'll wait to pick one up 18+ months from now.

There's a video somewhere around here of both vehicles in a drag... the 63 puts like 2-3 cars on the 55 through the 1/4 and launches better off the line...
And what do you mean better to get 55 for performance? ECU and pulley and all... its good, but what about a Twin Turbo for the E63? A TT63 would blow the E55 fully renntech'd out of the water... I imagine...

It is my belief that the E63 does usually launch better (hence the better factory 0-60 quotes). However, the word is that the new transmission on the E63 is the weak link in any plan to significantly bump up the power in the E63. Assuming that is true, an E55 is a better choice if you plan to significantly mod it.
