PCV/Oil Breath Lines. Vent to Atmosphere??
Always reading very technical posts in this W211 section and felt I would get the best answer here as well. Grumpy666, Vrus, etc...Not sure what system the 211 uses but this may be someting for these models as well.
Anyways. My C43 has a supercharger setup and I'm having a couple thoughts about setting up my oil catch can. I have two setups in mind but don't know which is better.
Original setup pumps the tainted charge back into the TB where it is sucked into the intake and burnt off I guess....why is this?? Emissions?? It seems like a bad idea yet litterally ever newer car has this.
1. I run all breather lines from the valve covers into a catch can with a mini filter attached to the top to vent to atmosphere. This is what I feel is best but still a little unure.
2. I run all breather lines into the catch can and instead of venting to atmosphere, install a return line into the original TB position. It would be a closed loop I guess. The catch can should pick up all the gunk from the charge and return it clean to the TB.
Currently I have the TB capped off and using mini filters on the breather lines which is ghetto looking and makes a mess. Any insite???
