yea, they must have screwed something up with one of the runs, or the car is just flat out inconsistant with regards to power, shifting, etc....... the first 60' means everything with regards to the final ET..... doesn't matter what car you're running....
I've got a database of 8,800+ times that I've personally looked at..... in general, for every tenth you shave off the first 60', you'll take off almost two tenths at the end of the 1/4m mile....
here is an example with my Viper:

Sorry man, my bad. I was thinking 60' and trap speed. 60' does not reflect trap speed.Originally Posted by Fikse

can someone explain how the 60ft does not effect trap? i understand that trap can indicate power even with a crap launch/60ft, but surely it will be affected a bit at least?

If I can manage the throttle better on the 1-2 shift and 2-3 shift for minimal wheel spin, and quit shifting into third gear like a girl, I think I can get this car to run an 11.3x in stock form from the factory.

I'm no expert at drag racing but I think hp and torque and gearing are what determines trap speed and launch and shift technique are what determine time. I know no matter what my launch is like or my time is like I always run a consistent trap speed run after run.Originally Posted by sly55

Damn, that thing is a BEAST! Tell him to come ot the track some time. Ranger is also local if I remember correctly. I'm getting som Toyo d/r's tomorrow for fridays track day. If I can get my 60' down to 11.7 I should be in the high 11's Originally Posted by e55 baller

P.S. I'm surprised this guy's roof did not fall off when he was accelerating, as it happened on numerous occasions with other C6 Z06's (even though the roof is supposed to be fixed lol)

Almost every test conducted, cars like Ford GT and Ferrari F430 were faster on track than Z06 and the testers complained of the Z06's lack of feel and "scary" oversteer. Plus, it usually ranks last in objective categories. Its just a souped up C6 really... supercharge your C6 and modify suspension and you got Z06 beating performance for less money with a car that looks the same.P.S. I follow your logic here:
However how does one car become 1 demensional when it can compete with the best Italian and American engineering in a track circuit?
1 dimensional could mean one many things:
good 1/4 mile
good standing mile
good 0-60
good 0-100
good top speed
good braking
good road holding
good skid pad
good circle 8
good track lap time
good 0 to 100 to 0
Therefore, it many of the magizine reviews I have seen, the C6 Z06 has excelled, tied or just barely off the performance of the F430, Lambo Murci, F GT, SRT-10 Viper.
How does this car be considered 1 demensional? I don't understand.
The only time you can consider a car 1 or 2 dimensional, IF it performs really poorly in other subjective categories and that is simply not the case for the Z06. It might now win them all, but it performs well all around.
The long standing sterotype that Corvettes are fast but handle poorly has been broken with this Z06 or even with the base C6.
I'm not going to touch price during this argument, since that can take us another thread alone. Simply I would say, there is always something cheaper and faster.

I took my Z06 to the "Pinks" taping here in Dallas(Ennis) yesterday and it was running very fast. Unfortunately pesky track officials and a weak clutch kept me out of the 10s. I ran drag radials for the first time as well.
My first pass got me my first warning. I even launched at 1500rpms. 60 ft was 1.8 with an 11.45@124 while granny shifting. I knew big numbers wer possible then.
I launched at 3K rpms the next time and scorched a 1.6 60ft time. The launch felt bad to me because I am not used to it hooking so hard off the line. The engine bogged a tiny bit so I granny shifted down the track this time as well. I didn't wanna get kicked off so early so I let off about 300ft before the line and hit the brakes hard at about 75ft. Here's the kicker. I ran even quicker than the first pass. 11.40@99mph. The 0-60 off my Gtimer was 2.93 and 0-100 was 6.98. That was pretty cool. That could have been a 10s pass.
I made a few passes more passes at around 12.0@80mph.
On my last last pass of the night there were thousands of people out there cheering on al the cars in between "Pinks" tapings. It was pretty cool having such a big audience. I decided ok time to get kicked out. The guy running the lights told me to go ahead and run my fastest. I had an ok 60 ft of 1.77 and ran an 11.28@125.6. They kicked me off anyway. *******s.
Couple of interesting passes.
...........60ft....330ft.....0-60.....0-100.....1/4.......mph
Pass1...1.6......4.7.......2.93......6.9 8.......11.4.....99mph
Pass2...1.7......4.8.......3.1........7. 1........11.28....125.6
Great time at "Pinks". They had snow mobiles that ran 8.2@160mph.
