Nope, just know the owner. The car is in Scottsdale but normally resides in Cali.

I'd assume the reason it's not legal in the US is because MB didn't put it through US DOT/EPA testing, therefore making the car not legal for road use.

Someone should correct me if I'm wrong but I'm assuming its emissions related (especially in the People's Republic of California). Equally of importance for street legality is crash testing. I'm pretty positive Mercedes had no interest in crashing 4-6 cars out of a 100 car run just to prove they hold up well in accidents (which, with the abundance of reinforcement and carbon fiber, I'm sure its hard as a hummvee.)

yeah... Europe, so that would be diesels ;)
If i remember correctly, initial list price was 205,000€ which is roughly 240K$.
However, they've gone up quite a bit in price, I've seen them go to 300.000€, which is about 400.000$

I know why they call 'em spoilers....

Its obviously a great car and very VERY exclusive - but man that black wing

Couldn't AMG engineers have found a better looking solution to lift problems than this ? It looks like some kids idea of a "going faster" spoiler.

Just to drive this around and have those folks who are quite knowldegable but "not in the know",start to laugh at that spoiler would really hurt...all them dollars...and that's the reaction

I do like the rest of the styling - wheel/wheel well treatments and the look alike DTM front end to a real DTM race car...but I cannot get over that spoiler...

Its called functionality. The wing serves a purpose other than to "look cool", which is why they were invented.

no....really you say, wow...thanks for beng so informative......read my post again I said "for lift" reasons...I know its functional.

Then I guess this one has two functions and they both kinda "suck"...one you want...to keep the car down and one you don't...spoiling the looks.

The point was that it could still be made more attractive, for starters they could paint it the body color, or even form it's shape to more blend to the vehicle shape ....why can't it still be functional and better looking.

Remember I said I liked they way the car looked - my point was the pain of having spent good money and still some people will look at that and think the whole car is an amateur production.

If you buying hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of car I think AMG could spend a little more effort and make you a decent looking spoiler --- yes one that WORKS.

The CLK GTR has a body colored and molded in Spoiler (functional too ) - and in my opinion - one that at least looks the part of a 500,000 $ car (although the GTR is not road going - but then agian in the USA neither is the CLK DTM really {display rules aside})

check the 2nd picture here..
