*** SLR & Specialty Parts Ordering ***

Guys... You better get off your butts and get what you want NOWfrom the SLR parts bin because soon it will be closed off.

MB Germany is getting wise to certain individuals (who shall remain nameless) ordering specialty SLR parts and dont like it too much..

They are inplementing a "VIN # Confirmation Policy". That means they want a VIN# for each specialty component you order and they will confirm with the OWNER of that VIN# that it is a legit order and the proper car.. This means your dealer will NOT be able to just pass along ANY VIN# they want.

I've ordered a couple of sets of SLR cams & cam gears already for myself & other people on the board.

If any of you are on the fence about this or want this for the future, you better hurry up and get them otherwise you wont be able to later on.

I am making the SLR cams & gears available for $2860CDN + shipping ($2500USD) which covers all my Paypal fees, taxes, etc..

I just put an order in for another member.. If someone wants a set, now is the time so I can piggy-back them together.

Delivery time is 1 - 1.5 weeks from Germany for the specialty parts..

Oh yeah.. There are only 6 sets of SLR cams left worldwide..

with the VIN # policy, even if you knew the SLR owner to order it for you, the car has to be at the dealer, and each part that is ordered for the car after the policy is in effect will be recorded and marked on file...so if you have a VIN # and the car is at the dealer...that VIN # won't be getting a set of cams for a long while

So basically this means we're screwed.

Are the cams that expensive to make?

the SLR cams aren't any more expensive then the normal E55 cams to make, it's just that MB wants to keep close tabs on whats happening to each SLR. there just aren't that many of them on the street.

Well that sucks, not cool at all.

I'm just thinking outloud, I bet a few folks have SLR's that aren't even driven. Would it hurt so much as to just keep that car 'out of commission' while we order parts?

I have this vision of AMG headquarters. All computer controlled and they keep getting printouts stating that SLR's all over America are blowin cams left and right.

"The SLR motor seems bulletproof, cept for those damn cams.....another 5 went out yesterday. "

Thanks to JakPro1 (Jim) for having the guts to guinea pig this for all of us.. You guys can thank him for your extra power once you install these..

And also, because of Jim, we know there is a small spacer that needs to be made to allow the cam sensor to cam gear spacing to be adjusted so they dont rub against eachother.

The idea is when my SLR cams arrive, I will re/re the stock cams in my spare motor and mount the SLR cams & gears into those heads.. I'll get the measurements for the spacer and have 50 or so stamped out.. I'll send each of you a set of the spacers that way the whole thing becomes a Plug & Play kit.

Current list is as follows:

- GTA23109a
- mbamg06e55
- MACHC5
- Fleebee

All parts have been ordered. Only 3 sets left in worldwide inventory.

You're all welcome. Car runs real strong with these cams. You guys will feel a nice difference upper end which is very much welcome eh??

Don't let your tech/installer talk you out of the spacer on the cam sensor...you'll be sorrrrryyyyyy.

OH, one last thing, this is an email from a tuner while I was working on this. It's the line that kept me going when it looked like it wasn't gonna work. Heh, we E55 guys specialize in "not possible"

Hello Jim,

unfortunately not possible through mechanical reasons.

Best regards
