Bought my 2006 E55...initial pics.
Last evening I bought a Barolo Red E55 from Mercedes Benz of Princeton. I had been watching the car on their website as I had been shopping between an E55, E63 and M5 for the last several weeks.
I opted for the E55 because I feel the M5 has a bit more of a "hard edge" to it relative to my needs. I prefer the blown 55 over the NA 63 (the list of cars in my sig might be a clue as to why! ). They also had a black/black 63 on the lot, but after seeing the 55 in Barolo Red, I decided to just pull the trigger on it. The car has the lighting package, premium package and electronic trunk closer. I am having the dealer add in Sirius since it's not standard on the 55 (but is on the 63). I added the 7year/100k warranty and paid $86.5k on an $89.5k MSRP, meaning I got the car for ~$7500 below MSRP. I'm pretty happy with that.
Delivery is this afternoon, and I can't wait. What a wonderful amalgamation of speed, power and luxury this machine is!
Savvy readers will note that this car was on eBay...until they took it off after I bought it . I snagged the pics from the auction to post, but I'll shoot a few of my own tonight or this weekend. I'll be taking the car to New York on Sunday, and to Richmond on Tuesday...so it should be a very nice few days getting acquainted with my new purchase.
Anyway...
It also looks like we'll be going back next week to pick up a white/tan GL450 they have on the lot!

I see somebody likes their forced induction cars!! Are you a dyed in the wool stoplight warrior or what??
Congrats on the purchase, the E55 is such a monster you might trade in all your other cars just to buy mods.

Congratulation on buying the most beautiful of all E55's. I bought the first of the triplets Princeton had back in March. I also saw mine on Ebay before buying. Everyone will tell the same thing they tell me: they can't believe how good this car looks in this color.

I was watching that car at the dealership to see who bought it. We had a S class in that hue a few years ago.
I bought my 4850 mile used pewter 05 from Princeton last may.
Your going to love owning the E55...

Barolo Red was my second color choice after Capri Blue. There are way too many Silver & Black E55's out there (no offense anyone). Nice to see one in a diferent color. Does it have the Merlot Red seat inserts? I can't tell from the pics. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do. Welcome to the club.

Congrats on the car! I can't wait to see that color in person now! Would be killer if you have the seat inserts to match but either way it looks nice!
Isn't it the greatest thing to go on a road trip with your NEW car! Enjoy it!

I am starting to see a few small chips in my hood, I should have gotten the clear bra.
That Barolo Red is gorgeous, I like it more & more every time I look at this thread. Outstanding color choice!

Thanks everybody!
Got the car home tonight.
During delivery, it started to rain, so it was a wet ride back. What a car!
Put it in the garage, then had the great idea to get sushi for dinner for the wife and I. Of course, they don't deliver...what a great excuse to jump back in the E55 for a quick trip around town!
Here are a few more pics of the car, cleaned up and ready for its new owner at the dealer...
Clear bra is a must. A few years ago, I looked into it for one of the other cars from a local installer, now I can't find the info. Anybody have a link or info for a local (New Jersey) installer?
No seat inserts on this car, just charcoal interior.

Talked to the wife tonight, and we might make the trip to see/drive/deal the GL tomorrow. I'd probably take delivery on Mon/Tues.

Looks killer...I'd take a new E55 over a new E63 anyday!!
Look into a better deal on the GL. They may be nice, but paying almost $850/month is a but steep. The one I looked into was also loaded (to the gills, actually) and with $2500 out of pocket I had them at $750 AND still walked away.

Congrats on the E55...I'm right around the corner from Princeton and had been eyeing the car to see how long it'd sit ...I just refuse to buy from Princeton after my first two times I was there, they were very disrespectful and unprofessional in there treatment of customers.
That being said, I suggest you get a print out of the quote that princeton gives you for the GL450 and go up the road to Ray Catena MB in Edison and show them the print out, I can guarantee they will most likely beat if not match the deal princeton is giving you so long as they have a simliar vehicle in stock. Also the service center Ray Catena has is simply amazing with over 50 loaner cars available, catered food, tv and internet access via 11 flat panel computers, a shoe shine, pool table, a virtual golf thing....their service is AMAZING compared to Princeton who I've taken my car to a couple of times in emergencies and experienced the poor service
...if you're interested in going to Ray Catena's PM, I'll give you the contact info of my Salesmen there, (who I've been going to for over 10 years now) he'll take care of you

I didn't even know E was available in that color, never seen that one before. But congrat on your purchase, I just got my 06 1.5 months ago new from dealer, and I thought my designo graphite was rare which I've seen finger count of them, but your red one is definitely one of a kind.
++1 on clear bra, that's my first mod on the car and no regrets. Had an impact on freeway from an incoming attack of someone's floor mat fell on the highway, bumper walked away with minor rash due to clear bra saving the paint. Without it would probably rib a nice clear coat smear.
