As stated above BEWARE of RAIN...I got stuck in fast moving storm about 2 months ago and it left standing water on the highway (I75 in Florida)...Needless to say, my use of throttle was judicious (I'm going 45-50mph) and I've got civics whizzing past me. Anything over 50mph and I could feel the back end start to get really loose. I have never been more focused on driving in a straight line in my life...

As stated in another thread, I have Nitto DRs on my stock rear wheels. I drive the car in the rain, even heavy rain, without any problem. IMO, the Nittos are a better choice for a street tire than the BFGs. The BFGs have better ultimate grip, but with a short burnout, you will hook just fine with the Nittos.

What about the Toyo RA1's? I went from PS2's to Toyo RA1's and theres a huge difference in traction. I havent driven them in the rain yest so I dont know. Its more of a roadcourse tire than a dragstrip tire which makes it great for the street.

Did you loose any daily comfort from switching to the RA1's vs. the PS2's? How was the traction better..off the line, corners?

I didnt lose any comfort at all. I havent driven in any twisties yet but the traction off the line is a million times better. I'll keep you updated.

Yea I heard good things about the T1R's but have no personal experience with them. I have the Toyo RA1's on my 18" monoblocks that I use for the track. Didnt know they dont make them higher than 18's. They are drag tires but can be driven on daily without a problem. With 20's you're going to have traction problems no matter what tire you go with. The sidewall will be just too small and not many (if any) options for a sticky compound. I have crappy tires on my 19's.

i know the 20s are for looks at the suffering of performance. but hey things we choose. my rims should come in this week and i need a tire selection now. we have P-zero nero for now but want the best tire i can get in the size i need. i wanted the KDWs but dont come in the size i need so, i think the T1Rs are gonna be my choice.

i just put on a set of the 285/19 t1r's. they seem too good to be true for the price. really quiet, good looks, better than most in handling, and good for consistent 1.7 60ft times!!!

that brings smiles to my face! how is the 285 with rubbing? is your car lowered? my tire guy says only 275s if im gonna lower it. i know he has worked on hundreds of E classes but i think the fender wells have more room in our 55s?

well here's another smile for you... ...my car is lowered about an inch and i have ZERO rubbing issues. in fact i may try 295's next time around. the 40mm offset fits so well that i believe i've got enough room to go wider.

2014 GL 350 on order
chiromikey: please do share your tip for getting 1.7 60' times with this owner! Best I can do with my BFG DR is mid 1.8's. Have K2 with LSD yielding 12.1 with 115 traps at Milan Dragway in Michigan-thanks, Joker

i've only made one trip to the strip and it was a last minute decision so i really wasn't prepared which actually could have played in my favor. by that i mean i had a full tank of gas and 36psi in the tires. the full tank probably hurt my top speed but i believe it helped with traction, especially since firebird is known to be a slippery track.

anyways, esp off, suspension in "c" mode, tranny in "s" mode, 2 second dry burnout (just enough to see smoke), shallow stage (barely light the second staging light), and quickly mash the pedal from idle (not quite a stomp and no loading the converter).

this gave me consistent 1.7 60ft times and 11.9's around 118mph on my k2 derivative with no lsd and street toyos. everyone says lsd is a must but at this point i'll spend the money elsewhere first.

we'll see what happens next time i go prepared with only a 1/4 tank of gas and start playing with tire pressure.

What size BFG drags?

For those who are running BFG drags, what size are you running? I don't think they are available in 265x35x18. That is what size I'm currently running with the BFG KDWIIs.
