What do you guys make of this kill or not?

Last night we were on our way to key biscayne for a xmas party at a friends house. As were are coming out of the toll an F430 comes blasting out a couple of lanes to my left. I give it a little gas and get behind him. He is making some noise with his engine I guess to clear the cars in front of him. As we are coming up to the bridge an M3 that was in the way moves left and the road ahead is clear heading up the bridge. He had been in a lower gear the whole time and of course we were enjoying the view and the sound. I put it in 3rd and waited for him to make a move. My girlfriend is giving me the evil eye and my freind Brendan is telling me to go for it.

He guns it and the Ferrari starts to wail, I give about 1 and 1/2 lengths and floor it the E drops in to second and in what seemed like an instant I am on his ***. We are heading up the bridge at full throttle and I am 2 ft off his bumper the whole way. Mind you I have more than 3/4 of a tank of fuel, my girlfriend in the passenger seat, my friend his girlfreind and one other girl in the back seat. 5 people in the car the guy in the 430 is alone. The Ferrari sounded incredible but I keep waiting for him to start pulling away, nothing finally I guess he got pissed I was up his *** and he hits the brakes at 100 - 120 I hit the brakes and give him some room and he starts flashing his brake lights. I get next to him and he is still revving at me but doesn't go for it again.

I wouldn't have been able to go again or the girls would have killed me. While we were tailing him the girls were all having a fit and my friend was of course egging me on.

Honestly I was pretty shocked I really didn't expect to be able to keep up with a 430, but he never pulled on me at all. What do you guys think?

Only one possible explanation: The F430 driver was keeping you close so he would not lose his rear mirror view of some hot-**** girls in your car.

I agree, That car would toast a stock E55 really bad....even more so @ high speeds.

I raced a F430 Spyder the other day with just me in the car and though I won, it was pretty close ( he went first, I was @ 3500 rpm 2nd gear and passed him by middle of 3rd ) My car is modded and I don't think I could have stayed with him stock. And definitely not with 4 passengers. Just my $0.02 ...

my car is stock other than PS2's, i was in 3rd somewhere between 3000-3500 rpm when I floored it it downshifted to second and I was on him instantly the only thing I can think is maybe he was also in 3rd and that is why he didn't have enough momentum to pull away from me I don't know if drafting comes into play.

Well we all know the 430 is a faster car so it was fun to play with one that couldn't get away.

Don't forget there are lots of configurations to the F430. What's the power to weight?

here in newport, my friend with his E55 K8 walks F430s ..so keepin up with an F430 with a stock E55 would not surprise me.

I haven't run one yet, or seen one run..... if the "magazines" are accurate, they pull 120+ traps, so a stock E55 would have a hard time keeping up when racing at speed.... anything can happen during a real race though, one small issue either way, and one car could easily be ahead....

F430 is around 3200lbs. Power to weight of c.320.tonne vs I think 260/tonne of E55. There's a really fast one that kills an M6 over on the M5 board. Rolling runs too. This being said, each engine is slightly different so who knows. However, having 5 passengers makes me think the guy couldn't drive or didn't drive. Either way, it's great how a mid-size sedan can be mentioned in the same performance breath as a brand new supercar

My brother just got an F430 and recently took me for a ride over thanksgiving. He hadn't even broken it in yet and was still babying it. But, let me tell you, he was short shifting @ around 6k rpm and that thing was still fast as hell. Next time I'm in LA I'm going to see if he'll put the 55 in it's place. The needle on the tach moves soooo fast it's insane. When it gets broken in, I will be booking a flight home just to drive his car.

Nothing wrong taking a guy on when safe and you have space ... getting on the guys a$$ has high probability of being expensive and could well have ended up being nasty...not only this but you 55 was probably being starved of air running so close behind the Feris.

Nevertheless it sounds closer than I would have thought... then again there are the twisties where it would be a sorry sight....sorry could not resist that!
