I was wondering if anyone can give me advice,

I purchase my 1999 E55 on March 2005 and the dealer gave me a copy of a CARFAX report and everything looked good. I purchased the car with 43k miles now I have 69k and I was thinking in trading my car for a truck for my wife but the sales manager of dealer told me that I have a rollback on my speedometer based on the AUTOCHECK report, as you can imagine I was shocked by the news and I started do some investigation.
AUTOCHECK Report shows the previous owner on 7/12/2001 with 29,450k miles registered in ILLINOIS. Then somehow North Carolina comes in the picture with 4/24/2002 with 19,840k Miles, as you can see the miles are less then the year before. I called the DMV of NC and they said that they got the info from the dealer who sold this car in NC.
I called the Mercedes Dealer in NC and they told me that they sold this car and that everything is ok with their records and there is nothing else they can do.
Now the DMV of Illlinois provided me with copies of the previous two Titles showing that the car was registered here when they registered the car in NC at the same time.
I was able to track down the previous owner and I spoke with him for 1/2 hour and he told me that he always had the car in his possetion and that he will do anything to help me fix this problem.
I know this is a typo error but it seems like I can't fix this problem.
I have also a printout from the dealer showing the miles on the car is consistent with the miles in my car.
Can anyone direct me to the right departments so that I can correct this problem.
