I'd rather watch paint dry
Personally I'd rather watch paint dry than listen to Rob Allen's B.S. Talk about a waste of a pair of shoes.

I met him at the AMG challenge and found him to be nice. Also, I think it is at least a show of good faith that he even puts himself up to this. You can't expect a corporate dude to rake his own company over the grill. I don't exactly see the BMW m-car guy doing anything similar??

IMO expressing views, concerns, tech questions allows us to present our positions. Cali is still one of their largest markets, I would believe they would have some interest. But then again they are corporate.

I had a number of encounters with Rob and always found him to be very courteous and helpful with real info about AMG current and upcoming products.
Would you care to tell us why you have such a low opinion of the guy?

I assume you can support above statement with some basis?

Its basically just because he never really gives us the information we want. Understandably, the guy needs to watch what he says, but many of the questions we have for him are things that he technically cannot answer. For instance, Jangy, I doubt he will tell you that you can go with the control arms because that is an aftermarket mod that Merc doesn't support. I find him to be a great guy, dont get me wrong, Im just giving my guess as to what Rake55 meant.
Your points are taken, however. No corporate dude will be caught condoning mods.

I also met him at the AMG challenge, he seemed like a very nice guy & was up to date on everything we talk about on this site. I appreciate the time he takes to talk to us, because he really doesn't have to do it.

AMG Lounge
Thanks to Eleanor Owner for articulating my thoughts.
I think Rob is an OK guy but to me he just isn’t a passionate Mercedes guy. I don’t think his objectives are aligned with those of his counterparts in Affalterbach and don’t find him to be a true proponent and ambassador of AMG ideologies. He never really gives any great insight or meaningful information. I appreciate that he takes the time to speak with us AMG owners but generally find his information to be high on fluff and low on content. Maybe I should just keep my thoughts to myself because he does deserve credit for taking the time to speak with us. I wish that AMG would grow a set of ***** and put Wolf Zimmerman on the AMG lounge to answer our questions.

Lets keep the bashing for another thread and let this one serve to collect all the TECHNICAL questions we want asked. We all have opinions of corporate folks and that is all they are. My opinion of Rob has no effect on him.

I'm not saying your issue is bashing. i see it as legit and to be asked. I don't know that you will like the answer, but it is a valid question. I wish I had better news for you, but mine hit 160mph recently and DID not shut down.

I am not trying to flame RA at all, rather get any insight into an issue that has the local mouthbreathing service guys stumped. (surprise.)
I applaud him entering the "lion's den" of the forums at all.....

That's probably because he just doesn't know, not so much because he's not willing to tell. US Product managers are just part of the PR chain, the real voodoo and black magic happens in Affalterbach with the real boss and the mad scientists.

SL 65 AMG and E63s AMG
I asked this last time and he said chassis differences would not allow it and he would not recommend using 07 parts on an 03-6. No aftermarket parts will be made by MB in the near future.
