C&D runs the E63, M5 (manual) and S6 heads up....
The E63 smokes em all....
E63: 12.6 @ 115
M5 6 speed: 13.0 @ 114
S6: 13.8 @ 104 <--- what a joke.....
Interesting part is that 0-150, the M5 can't pass up the E63...
E63 0-150: 23.3
M5 0-150: 23.4
The E63 beat the M5 in every accerlation test.... 0-60, 0-100, 0-150, 5-60, 30-60, 50-70.....

EDIT: just noticed its a manual m5, well then its not kinda surprising, SMG should be faster up to 150 tho.

What was profound in this test was C&Ds acknowledgement of AMGs new emphasis on a balanced car with the 63, not just brute power......This is a great must read on all teutonic productions...AUDI missed narrowly, with its new v10.............this is a great issue with a short read on the sl65, "how to scare your passengers", hahahah, and the continental GTC.....

Why??............I happened to stop into a VERY WELL KNOWN and respected tuner here in Lake Park and we chatted about my car, some of his E's, and what he does....... Well we kind of got to talk'n about the E63 and ........... They proceed to tell me that AMG redesigned the Intake a mid-year because of the "Crappy" initial performance figures and what they are seeing NOW, are these #'s that C & D have posted. Can you believe it....they redesigned the Intake for more legit Hp and Tq...........
Well at least they are now in the realm of Respectability for performance with the E63----I tip my Hat if they did indeed do this to better the E63!!

I know, let the conspiracy theorists start.... I am sure they didn't change the part number so no one would ever find out. Yet they are willing to tell Renntech all of the secrets of AMG since he worked there 15 years ago......

Car was not totally designed for SMG. What happened to all the people that said "wait until the manual M5 comes out, it will be faster" Now they are going to say that the SMG would have beat the E63 if only it were tested

How is it a different story. It is the same exact tranny just without the hydraulic and computer controls mounted on it. Should be faster because it weighs less.
In all the tests I've seen with the M3 the SMG was always 0.1 seconds slower than the 6 spd manual in tests.
On another note, the S6 did terrible! 13.8 1/4 mile? E550 could smoke that POS.

Proves what we've been saying all along: take the M5's seven speed gearing advantage away, and its lack of torque kills it. No magic, just good gearing.
As to the S6: so much for "never follow"!! Audi should just give it up...wtf is the "S" badge supposed to represent if it's a full second slower than its competition?? Sheesh..I get the feeling that those things aren't exactly flying off of dealers' lots!!
