it seemed more like subaru keeping up than a kill.
also, they didn't seem like they were going that fast.
imho, street racing with other cars around is not a good test of who's faster.

Those GT35R Turbo kits are monsters, 4xxwhp on a Subaru with that kit is an average number, I've seen cars with that kit produced 450whp on pump, so the number that the Legacy GT put down was only moderate. I don't know if the Legacy GT had any drivetrain modifications, but imagine that in an STi, it would definitely pull away from the E55 for sure.

Doesnt seem he could shift it fast enough to keep his momentum smooth? Thats a good running subie for sure.
Hows the life span on the motor, clutch and trans at that level of hp?

Im having a BMW E36 //M3 built with custom turbo setup using the Garrett
GT35R turbo and a built motor...should be fun when its all done! goal is 650 WHP and WTQ on pump gas!

i've had all kinds of turbo'd and fi'd vehicles. the e36 m3 imo is truly the best platform for f/i as the most gains are seen for cheap.

It all comes down to the tune, if it stays around 11.8-12.3:1 AFR in boost, the motor should last 50k miles. I used to have a Forester Auto with similar turbo, 360+whp, can't push it more because the motor is not as strong as STi's 2.5L nor the Legacy's, but it had 45k miles on it, and it ran like a clock. Sold it to a friend in Vermont and it's still running.

I wonder if on the top end 130+mph the E55 would start to edge in? Kinda like the M5 v.s E55 videos. The AWD drivetrain has some disadvantage at high freeway speeds, not sure if Subaru changed the gearing on the Legacy though.
At any rate, with the rate the Legacy is pulling the E55 definitely looses. But I am pretty surprised the E55 didn't initially pulled on the Legacy since it's got way more torque despite the weight disadvantage.

However in your defense I do feel that if that race goes to 130 or 150mph the E55 may be the victor due to more HP and gearing.
