PS 2 tire mileage

How many miles do you guys get with you PS 2 rear tires? I have 6K and am down to 3/32 of an inch on both tires. All of the wear is in the middle of the tires and is even. Also, I keep the tires at 35 to 36 cold pressure, which increases to 38 to 39 when warmed up. I like to take off agressively and ESP cuts in often, but I never "smoke" the tires. Is this normal even though I don't smoke the tires. Is it possible I'm smoking the tires when I take off agressively with ESP blinking and don't know it?

I am right at 15k miles- the rears are almost done due to all the torque blasts but I too, rarely light them up. My wear is on the inside due to cambering from lowering. I will probably dump them when I get to 17-18k miles. I dont think you are missing anything when you take off- you are just torque'ing them everytime. I dont take off everytime hard but do more rolling hard pulls which wear on the tires but not as much from a dig.

I get about 6K out of a set of rears, too. I don't smoke mine much, but do some nice "digs". Keep in mind that a nice strong pull from a dig can wear out as much as simple smoking can. It is all about how much power you are transfer over a stretch of time. I've gotten a little addicted to the bark as I punch it at 60, so I think that eats some rubber, too.

Potenza RE050A 285/30 ZR19 on my CLS and after 15k they still look good. I was very surprised. I get on them every once in a while.

I have 12,000 on my stock Conti's and there's still about 5/32" tread. I always get on it.

Not to stick you too hard, but the OEM contis are hard as rocks. They get harder as they go, too so I wouldn't be amazed if you get a load more miles out of them. Wait till you change them out. You'll love the grip. Contis just make you think the car is nothing but TQ. PS2s are a different ballgame in that they actually wear faster once they start to go. You almost have to try to get them to trip ESP.

So what you think compared to the Potenzas? I was looking through TireRack tests/reviews and they pointed towards the Potenza's. I'm not knocking either, however, it is not too hard to get ESP to trip in 1st.

I don't have much experience with them. I've smoked my share of Contis and PS2s, so i've sort of been there. I can tell you the PS2s have a real low load rating which definitely leads to their early death. That is also why they don't need as much effort to heat up, so its all in what you want.

Also keep in mind that PS2's weigh about 4 lbs less than Bridgestones and others. Thats about 16 lbs unsprung weight on all 4 corners. Its not a lot but it does add up especially when adding in super light wheels.

E55 (for sale if the right offer comes along)...too many others to list
I have a new take on PS2's with my Quaife. When the tires were new with my LSD it was hard to get the back to slide out as much as I wanted. Now that the tires are worn it gives more. It was the opposite with my 210 with no LSD and warn PS2's. The warn PS2's made for a crappy ride.

I got 9000 out of my stock Contis. When they took them off they were literally bald. They looked like racing slicks. I had fun...
