HRE 547's Finally On the Car
I snagged a lightly used set of 8.5"x19" and 10"x19" HRE 547s, mounted with Bridgestone S-03s, off eBay awhile back. Took the seller forever to ship them, but they finally arrived. I had to spend some time cleaning them up, removing the old tape-on weights, removing the adhesive residue, and then rebalanced them and managed some very low RFV numbers on the GSP9700. As a final good measure, I gave them a coat of Wheel Wax. I think they turned about pretty good, and I like their Techtrite Grey centers against the black of my car better than I thought I would. Wondering, though, whether I should ship them out to HRE for a respray to pure black, or possible a light silver center?

Looks hot as is. Having the wheels a shade lighter than black makes them easier to see and stand out. Leave it alone. Even the height is fine. Nice car.

LOOKS GREAT AS IS!
A little off topic, I'm assuming you used 100 fine steel wool to clean those tips. They look great as well. I think it's time for a home depot run!

Yes. The tires had been deflated prior to shipping, so there was no way to know if they had shifted on the rims. In addition, the existing tape-on weights had been covered by shiny vent tape. Putting a layer of tape on the weights is a decent idea for track usage, but not IMO necessary for driving on the street. So I wanted to clean up that mess as well and get the vent tape off the rims.
No rash, the edges of the rims look funny to me too; I think it happened in resizing the photo for posting purposes.
Thanks. When I first got the car, the tips were a mess. I used a Scotchbrite scrubbing pad with the fine nylon mesh and some Extreme metal polish for the first cleaning. Now they're easy to keep clean with each washing of the car, and when a little touch up is needed, I just use some Meguire's metal polish (like I did before taking the pics).
