E63 fog light replacement....
Anyone know what fog light is used in the E63? Is it the 9006 HB4 or is it the H1? Since the park/day lights are now blue since '06 I would like fogs that are closer to the HID/blue spectrum. Thanks.

20+ to list......
This cornering foglamps on 07s are really funny, it tripped my friends twice.
Anyway, I think your owner's manual probably have sizing listed in there.

The manual is actually WRONG. They are NOT H11's. They are actually H7's. I recently got some H7 Hoen Xenon match bulbs and replaced them easily. Thanks for checking.

I too did not trust the manual. So H7 bulbs to replace the fog light bulbs in the E63, right? Was it difficult to replace the bulbs? Any voltage issues that some experience with running HIDs to fogs?

No issues at all. I actually went for the higher wattage bulbs (80w vs 55w) and it looks awesome, very bright, very functional and mine have the clear white/slightly blue tint so it looks really good. Very easy to do....

Okay, so I say in advance sorry for bringing a thread back from the dead. I want to swap out my bulbs due to the color difference. My parking lamps and headlamps are, IMHO, the same color/temp which I think is around 5000K from my research. My fog lamps are much more yellow, 4000K or 3500K. From my manual for my 08, it says H11@55W, but I see from above others have conflicting info. I guess I just need to pull them and check. I'd like to go a higher kelvin rating to get a better match to the headlights, but don't feel I need HID or the cost. I'll have to try and find them local since I don't want to wait and want to be able to return easily.
Any new info from you original thread posters on your experience? Anything I should be wary of?
Thanks and Happy New Year to you all.

Well I bought some of the top end Sylvania and, while I haven't driven them at night, I am a little disappointed with the color. I thought they would be closer to my headlights and parking lights in color. I was wrong. Hopefully they will be brighter than the Phillips that were in there so I don't feel like I wasted 50 bucks.

There's no contest for HID fogs. You can get kits online for $40 right now from the place I got mine from. I'm very happy with the look and performance.

Just remember guys, if you put hid in for fog lights, you need the inline resistor to correct the voltage that the car sees. I you don't have this, every-time you start the car, a warning message will pop up on the info center.
Also, the "adaptive" fog lights are as such. If you have your headlights on bit no fog lights, then u put ur left turn signal on, the left fog light turns on. Same on the right if right signal is on. It's just to help light your point of direction. I personally always turn my fogs on when I'm driving, I like the look.
Lastly, since they are actually fog lights, I would suggest buying a HiD 3000k kit. That is the super bright yellow light. Similar to the Lexus IS300 back in the day. The yellow light actually cuts thru fog which is what fog lights are used for. Food for thought.

Have HID's in there now. I wouldn't have it any other way. I wouldn't call them useless either. They perform quite better than the sylvanias that once were.

Sorry, I know this thread is old, but has any one with a 2007-2009 E63 put a HID kit into the fog lights? Every search that I came up with was people that did the E63 front end conversion and I think it might be different. I had an extra h7 kit laying around and when I took off my fog lights, I was surprised to see that it is a H7 bulb, BUT it is plugged into some type of cap that is need to screw into the fog light housing. Needless to say the HID bulb would not fit. So for those of you that were able to install a hid kit into your fogs, how did you do it?

the manual is wrong, I just pulled the fog light out, its a H7 plugged into a housing that screws to the back of the fog light. Its hard to explain, but if you saw it you would scratch your head too.

They seem pretty bright but I'm sure they don't light up the road like the HID sets. It's hard to tell over here because every road is lit up at night. I didn't do the strip LED's though. I got a set of these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HID-White-68...#ht_8074wt_927
They were not plug and play though. My installer had to modify the stock fog light housing. The seller said I ordered the wrong type and they had a version that should plug right in to our fog housings. I'm overseas though, so it was easier to just have the housing modified.
They do look pretty cool at night though, especially when matched with LED city lights.
