One can also Splash the spare tire and build a Sub Enclosure that will work with a 10 then add a High Quality Mono amp and cap for the sub....

jangy here is my old setup...10's are good for clean bass. 12w6v2's are good for a lil more thump. 13w7's if you like a lot of bass (had them in my m3). im using jl 10w3v3's, audison amp 4 channel and monoblock, and focal k2p 3 way components for fronts and 2 way k2p components for rears. however my trunk is in progress of being changed for more bass and a new show season!

I'm not dissing the product...it's good quality stuff. I dunno, I just think it's better to be original. Plenty of companies out there that are equal or better than JL.

No disrespect but copying audio equipment is a little different than everyone copying the same rims. Its almost like saying dont get PS2's because you should be original. Again, I am not even saying that JL is the best because it isnt but for the price its one of the best bangs for the buck right now. Everyone has it because it performs, its reasonable yet sufficient and it has good quality sound. I got it but I have had McIntosh and other higher level stuff- I am not an audiophile ... anymore.

I understand being original with wheels and other aesthetic mods but not buying a set of audio equipment because others have it?? I just dont think the word "copying" should be tied to audio equipment. To me its a bit extreme

Where did you go to get this work done? sounds nice. I've been searching forever for a competent aftermarket audio store in the bay area...

It now sounds like a symphony hall, especially with when using Sirius satellite radio as the sound source.

jangy: I would go with 10's too. I made the mistake of going with 12"s. I like the more tighter bass of 10's. Go with 10 JL's and u'll be pleased.

below is a pic of my single 12 with alot of trunk space still.

I see your point and I agree somewhat. But I don't really see the difference in copying aesthetics or audio equipment, copying is copying. People should make their own look AND sound. Maybe it's just me but I love telling people what kind of audio stuff I buy and hear them say, "Elemental Designs??!?!! Image Dynamics?!??! Is that some Pep Boys crap??" Then I turn it up and get the response. But to each their own.

I'm gonna come clean here though, I'm guilty of stealing...I bought the Eisenmann after hearing your sound clips.

Touche on the exhaust bro. I guess where I was coming from is you really cant see sound systems unless its show quality so no one really knows if you got the JL or the Pep Boys Special but we all can tell the sound difference thats for sure. Wheels and spoilers and other exterior items are more easily copyable because we all see the effects they create.

So are you going to become a tech at MBLN??

Depends on if they're hiring. Then I gotta play the game with Bev Hills. They'll either beg me to stay or tell me to go. I'm guessing the former so we'll see. Called the service manager at MBLN this week and left a message, no response. I'll pick up an application tomorrow since I'll be close after the meet.

Name of your Installer?

Your system sounds very tastefully done. Could I get the name of your installer?

Thanks.

Nice install, looks way clean and plenty of room for a set of golf clubs.

Those Punch speakers are a nice alternative to JL, and definitley go with 10", real nice, tight bass.

Thanks again, everyone for all the input. I'll be working on mine this weekend.

Its nice to see John (Glassjaw) showing his personality on here. Speak up more homes!! I'm not a fan of MBLN and they are far from me, but I may consider trying it if you go!

I had it done in Southern California, but Rolling Thunder in Marin County is =reputed to be a very high end installer; two frjends have used that company for other instrallations. They can certainly get Audison & Focal components.

Any other recommendations for installers in the SF/SJ Bay Area?
