WOW ! Your wood is actually cracked. My crack/split was only in the urethane clear varnish.
I will see if I can find the email of the person at MP Designs that got the ball rolling on my wheel.

Sorry to bring this topic alive again...
But I'm curious:
1. Vetluver: Has MP Design taken care of the cracks?
2. Neal: Is there one w/ charcoal/brown poplar wood (designo)? I only see from your website, MP Design, performanceproducts.com, the leather/wood ones only come in black birdseye or brown burlwood.
3. MP Design seems to offer the one w/ all leather. Could anyone confirm? Does this one have the tiptronic button at the back?
Here is from MP Design Web Site:
TM 211 SM L 00 (Tiptronic); or
TA 211 SM L 00 (AMG) not sure what the difference is.

Also, from what i have been told they do not import the all leather wheel for the E55 with buttons to the US.

So are you saying they do have it (full leather w/ tip buttons) but just don't sell it in the U.S.?
Damn.... either way I'm screwed... so pretty much I'm stuck w/ this flimsy steering wheel....
Is any member in Germany able to help me? I don't mind the full-leather one if MP Design doesn't have it in brown poplar wood (it's good the more I think about it... so I don't need to worry about cracking).

I don't think wood is good for tracks even w/ gloves... it'll be too slippery.
Full alcantra should be best for tracks.... but I just can't imagine how gross it would be if my hands sweat and I don't wear any gloves

Actually, i have already tracked with and without gloves. it works fine. Keep in mind that old schoolers used wood wheels with gloves. LOL, I know that isn't a great argument and I am not saying the wood adds performnace. I'm sure it is somewhat of a compromise over leather, but it does work out with gloves and I am a heavy sweater.
