so i guess maybe i was never that agressive with the dealers and pretty much everytime i wanted a new car i would just go get it and not shop around. now i know.
heres the specs on the car i was looking at:
- 2005 E55
- 18,000 miles
- Asking $64K
- Parktronic
- 319 Lighting Package
- Active Ventilated Seats/Front
- Panorama Sunroof
- Tire-Pressure Monitoring System
- DVD COMAND Navigation
- 6-Disc CD Changer
- Electronic Trunk Closer
so what do you guys think i could get this car for? ask for 7k less than what theyre asking? 58K?
thanks for all your help.

well i was right at least with this dealer. i gave my offer of 58K and they told me that $58,000 is less than what they own it for.
he said that the car was listed at $67,400, and that 64K was their special price. the best they were willing to do with certification was $63,021 + sales tax/registration/fees or $61,500 but without the 100k mile warranty.
i said no thanks and peaced out but they have my info so who knows.

What they own the car for, is not your problem. If they have to off this car at the auction. They can expect to get low $50's...
Maybe they want to hold out for someone to bend over, and pay $64k. But then again, maybe that never happens... Bottom line, every day that car sits on their lot, it continues to depreciate, and the manger knows it.. good luck

If a dealer has a car you really like, just keep tabs on it. As it gets closer to the 60 day on the dealer's lot time frame, they'll start lowering the price. Most dealers won't keep stale inventory on their lot, so they're better off lowering the price rather than taking a hit at auction. I saved big bucks on my '05 because it was within days of going to the auction.
If you're actually buying (i.e., not leasing) an E55, and plan to keep it for a few years, then absolutely, positively buy ONLY a CPO car. Maybe it's just me, but there's something comforting about knowing my car is under warranty until December of 2011 Also with a CPO E55, MB usually is offering an incentive finance rate, so between the benefits of an extended warranty and a subsidized interest rate, CPO is the only way to go if you intend to actually own the car for a few years (as my wife told me I would be )

You can try MB of Cherry Hill, but those guys a crazy!!! Last time I went there, I was there for all of 5 minutes before I realized we were way to far apart.. Maybe times have changed..
Why not look for one privately that has a late in service date??

WEst palm results on E63
Those auction results were AMG challenge cars..
They all went through west palm.. They went about 7-9 grand less then they normally do..
Good buys for a slightly broke in car

My Story
I got my '05 with 8k miles on it last August for $64k. It was a demo model that was not "inserviced" until November of '05 so it has full warranty until November of '09. I put about 5k miles a year on my cars, so I won't hit the 50k mark until way after the 4 years expire. Shortly after buying mine from a great dealer in Dallas, I found an '05 with 15k miles right here in Kansas City where I live with Renntech Stage I for only $60k. Point is, you will always find one "better" for less ca$h after you make a commitment. What the heck. I say buy, enjoy, live life and don't fret.

Interesting thread. I keep wavering on whether to sell mine or let it sit in my garage. She has 10,300 miles on her, has had no fewer than 3 oil and filter changes, is as strong as any other 55 to leave that factory, and I have had to turn the wipers on only once. So it sits there babied in the garage while I keep paying for it. What a waste. But then I take her out for a "spirited" drive, and I don't know how I'd live without her.
