Relocated exhaust crossover?
I was under the car last weekend and noticed that the exhaust systems crosses over immediately after the primary cats, which doesn't seem to be the best design. The SL55 would seem to have a better design, where the crossover is more towards the center of the system.
In old hot-rodding lore, you are supposed to be able to identify the optimal cross over location on a V8 by spraying paint along the pipes, and seeing where it develops a hot spot first. That's where you then add the X-pipe or H-pipe. But on our cars, it's way up front.
Wondering whether there's any improvement in exhaust performance to be had by capping off the existing cross-over and relocating it further back similar to the SL55 design. Anyone ever experimented with this?
