e55 sl55 engine differences ??
sorry for such a newbie question.
for me they are the same, but on the paper the sl55 produce more HP. is it just the benz marketing term or it has something to do with the ECU ??? maybe some dealership can reflash the ecu for the same number as the sl55 ?? 469 vs 493 ?

I believe the SL has 9.1 compression E55 has 9.0 ... new SL has faster spinning S/C and has improved engine management ...
Not sure about the new SL motor but concensus here is they dyno almost identically to each other ...

I would also like to know about this to
From what I remember reading a while back when the E55 came out after the SL55 was out they had the same engine, but the E55 beat the SL in a straight line, so MB couldn’t have its flag ship been beat by a much cheaper car so they upped the hp on the SL to 500hp. Other then that yes I also recall the exhaust sounded much better on the SL
SL lost due to weight and aerodynamics I think
