But of course after the whole incident because the girls could not catch you they went after the nice quiet slow car that did not stink of burning rubber! It was nice of the girls to cheer the guy up. After all he could only afford a E500 and had to make do with a AMG kit.
I remember the days when I was 17. Too bad all I had was a 78 Trans Am with a 73 455SD. I did the same kind of stuff.

OLD: 2004 C230 Sport Sedan, NEW: 2007 SLK350
In the SLK, I got pulled over once, although I didn't know how fast I was going. The police officer was very nice and asked me to drive more slowly. He said that he was pushing 120mph in his Dodge Intrepid, trying to catch up to me. (Was I going faster than that? I don't know)
He finally caught up to me at the next light, when I finally saw him in my mirror. I had no idea he was back there, otherwise I would've definitely slowed down and stopped the car!
I was honest with him: told him that I was late for work, and I wasn't aware of my speed when I was driving.
(The road was a local route that had a 45mph or 55mph limit in that region)
Anyway, I also drove the SLK55 AMG before buying the SLK350, and the AMG is definitely faster... but then, I wanted to get all premium packages and a whole bunch of options, so I didn't think the AMG would be worth an additional $20k for me...

i know one time i was following my friend in his BMW and he went from the right lane on the freeway to the very left one. I had to pass up two cars to go to the left lane too but i was already going 80 so i was lookin at the cars on the left tryin to pass them up. then when i was switchin lanes to go to the left i looked at my speed and i was going 110 i did not even feel i was doing 110.

PLEASE!!! Do not open my old wounds. I sold my 73 455 SD 3 1/2 years ago for $29,000 that looks EXACTLY like this one.

I've been hating myself about it.

Either 73 or 74. I put the motor in there shortly after I blew up the original 400. I still have the heads in the Garage. In the late 80s and early 90s I pull the motor out and put it in a 65 tempest (GTO body style for those who don't know) and got it to go 10.50s at Palmdale. It had a roller cam and all the good stuff in it at that time. The round port heads are still good but the bottom end got all worn out. Pretty good for a 9 to one compression motor, 10.5 inch tire, and 4.11 gears. That was back before edelbrock and aluminum heads! Too bad I spent most my money growing up thinking I had to pour most it into a car that went fast. But I guess live and learn. And I'm still learning.

Had 2 EDB Torker which he cut in half and heliarced both front sections together because of the dropped plenum while adding the dominator top and extending the runners also did the same mods to Holley street dominators which he was selling for $1000 back in 83-84 (quite a large sum for a teenager back then).
We ran mainly at MIR, Capital and 75-80 back in those days. I eventually switched over to Chevy as the cost of building a competitive poncho was getting out of hand.
I too spent all my hard earned money growing up on my cars but have no regrets today....you only live once

It's nice to hear about other Pontiac fanatics! I ran a 69 GTO with various engine combos back in the mid-late 80's. I worked with the late Bob Maxey on many of my motor packages including a BME long rod destroked 455(439) as well as 462-469's and utilizing ram air IV's as well as the D-port ram-air III's.

Did you know there are guys out there now that easily make over 750HP out of those old things now? Big Stroker motors in aluminum pontiac based blocks with crazy one inch lift! EDB is now only one of a couple makers of aluminum heads.
I guess it was not all bad.
I better stop ponti-yaking... after all this is a benz forum
otherwise I'll get
