Sluggish performance!

Hey guys, I'm hoping you all can give me an idea of my problem before I possibly bring it to a dealer.

When I step on the gas from about 0-50 the car is slow. I've got pickup truck and dodge neons beating me, until I get past 50 or 60mph.

The car just doesn't want to go. It is slow and sluggish, and it's starting to **** me off.

I really need help finding the casue of the problem, or I'll be selling it within a year. I don't want to do this.

I don't think it has anything to do with the engine or transmission. At least I don't think so. I had a service B done about a 1000 miles ago. And to me it seems this problem may have started since than.

The service was not done at the MB dealer, but rather a german auto mechanic, if that helps any.

I put in new K&N filters, but I know I had this problem before the install.

Could this be a computer or ECU problem?

I'm thinking about bringing it to the dealer, but not without an idea or they will find something wrong that isn't wrong and I'll spend over $1K and still not have the problem fixed.

So any help is great. Thanks in advance.

How about trying the ECU reset .. do a search for the instructions. Many have tried it with great results.

Here are the instructions per Jakpro1's post:

1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.

2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.

3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.

4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.

Great! I'll go try it now. I won't know results until I go to work. Thanks. I'll come back later to say if it worked or not.

Supercharger not working

I had the same problem and the bottom line is your supercharger is not working. I doubt ECU reset will fix problem but give it a try. In my case SC came back on its own after a couple of hundred miles of hard driving. MB still said ECU was damaged and replaced it. Car took a while to get back to normal because of the ECU "learning process". Good luck.

I believe he's refering to a W210. In that case, I'd bet money that your MAF sensor is going. Easy to change yourself, and if you shop around, less than $300.00.

I will keep this in mind, but for now it actually helped to reset the ECU. So thanks for the help Carreracup.

But Fast55 I will keep this in mind if the problem continues later. Although I would need to know how to install it. Pretty much were is it. And yes, on my W210. Thanks!
