It is over...
I watched and listened in awe and sadness last night as the buyer drove away "no-longer-my" E55 wagon. Since my only remaining merc is a '73 w108, I probably won't be around this forum all that often anymore.
Now, to buy the wife the X3 SUV she has been wanting... As for me, I'll likely drift between interesting older used cars for awhile before I buy something newer again, although in a couple of years I may do something crazy like get into an XLR-V, especially if they continue to discount them the way they have in the past few months. We'll see about that.
Meanwhile, here's a fond farewell to you all. I've really enjoyed the time I spent here immensely, and wish you all the best. As the inscription on my vintage "Esso" lighter says, "Happy motoring!"
