19" vs. 18" wheels

Need some advice from forum members. Trying to decide on 19" (+1) vs. 18" HRE 597R to replace the e55 stock 18". Any reason not to go to the 19"?

Reason to not got for 19s

1. ride comfort -- you have less tire so you're more likely to feel the bumps

2. weight -- 19" 597R probably will weigh about the same as the stock 18s so you don't lose any unsprung weight.

3. bent rims -- how bad are the pot holes in your area, fixing a bent HRE is not cheap.

I'm thinking of sticking with the 18s for these reasons:

1. Running 265/35 front and 295/30 rear with no rubbing (jangy tried this before)

2. Almost the same wheel rolling diameter as stock

3. A little bit lighter rims

4. I'll be able to use tires such as the Yokohama Advan Neova AD07

I'm thinking of using the DPE LS5 Rivetless to get the similar to stock look

Rivetless will look like this

This is e46 forum member ///OSS's car. Here's link to thread:

the sizes for the e63 will be 18x9 and 18x10

19 you need 20s for looks 20s are best for performance 18s of coarse you can get track or drag tires on a 18" rims but 20s look so nice. i have 20s and im either gonna get some track tires for my stockers or get a set of renntechs in 18s for drag days.

Haven't had an opportunity to gage ride quality but there is plenty of rubber on a 19 unlike the rubberband look of a 20 IMO. Pretty sure a 19 HRE is lighter than a stock AMG 18" stone. Maybe someone can confirm ?

It really depends on the HRE series. the competitions run an extra 5 lbs lighter, so maybe them. In general, 19" forged = 18 " cast weight.
I'm a hardcore 18" lover on these cars, but I could see a 19" compromise.
