Crankshaft Pulley Question

With Victor's very kind assistance I purchased a new SLR crankshaft pulley, planning to upgrade the stock pulley on my SL55.

Interestingly, both the SLR pulley and the (supposedly) stock pulley on my car have a 6 3/16" diameter across the outside lip.

I'm thinking that the stock pulley on the W211 55K engine measures 5 3/4" across the outside lip. I'm hoping that one of you good folks either knows the measurement or can quickly measure your stock pulley diameter.

Thanks!

Actually my friend, the Sl55 pulley and the SLR are the same! We measured and SLR Pulley and it was actually 1mm smaller, but they are the same! This was confirmed with my tech at MB because there was someone else that thought the same thing! See what people don't understand is just using things off an SLR will not work unless you have the total package!

People need to do more research before they start assuming this and that, because it will cost alot of money or worse yet engine problems!

jmf, the SLR blower pulley is smaller, and adds boost through the blower pulley instead of the crank pulley. Your best bet is just stick with a tuners pulley, as they are engineered to work with our combo. Unless you know SLR stuff inside out, it's best that people not try to Frankenstein there cars. Stick with a Kleemann pulley with Kleemann tune, or Renntech with Renntech, alot less problems, that way you got piece of mind also with an expensive car.

I disagree (as usual lately). If you think getting the RunnTech pulley is safe, ok. Using SLR parts (IC, etc.) is no different than trying tuner stuff. You are taking a risk in either case. Do your research and enjoy.

As for the other question. I do not know. I think I can find out exactly what the diameters are, though. I would hope that someone can answer more quickly, though.

How much you pay for the SLR pulley. Guess no way to get the cash back eh??

It is the same.

Sorry bout that. Ask us any other questions you have. We're here to help....and flame of course.

Thanks for all the responses. It's a good group of folks here.

In retrospect I was too quick to pull the trigger. I'm pretty much wired that way temperamentally which is sometimes helpful, other times not so much.

Yes, Jakpro1, it was a special order so no returns. On the positive side, I now have the world's most precisely machined door stop. It wasn't all that expensive, either, so I have no profound regrets or worries about making this month's mortgage payment.

LOL!! We are all whacked in some way or another. Keep up the positive attitude and something will come of it (as you say).
