E63
Back to the original post…does anyone know how to strengthen the E63 drive train? Just found out tonight that the maximum rated torque of the 63 seven speed is 516 foot pounds. This leaves us no room to modify these cars. Sucks no? Any suggestions (other than buying an E55)?

That was Bob's point. Not that the 63 isn't a great car, but each have their strengths. I doubt a 55 will ever handle like a 63, and the brakes? I'd love to ditch SBC. The strength of the 55 is in it's ability to be modified reliably. Early on in the 63/55 debate I clearly made the point that most were not liking the car because it does not make the claimed HP and a TT version or an aftermarket FI setup was going to be a problem because the 7 speed will spill it's guts quickly with that power. Hang in there, there's no way MB will keep the 5 speed too much longer. The only reason I got one of the last 55's was the killer deals VS the 63 and (no offense), I don't buy the first model year of anything (especially MB's).
