This seems like an impossible feat. i cant find any third party that will offer and extended warranty on an 2003 in California. Am i missing something. of course i am not the original owner and the car has 48xxx miles on her so MB will not give me an ew, so am i just screwed and have to cross my fingers that nothing major breaks???
Every site i go to says that they dont cover my AMG.

Last time I checked there were no after-market warranty companies offering coverage on AMG models.
I'm pretty sure you are SOL.
If you find someone who will cover you let us know.

Hey, there are many of us in the same (or similar) boat, so let's pool our research and findings in this thread. I'm in a 2005, bought a year ago out of state with 27k on the clock. Now pushing 40k miles, looking at the clock and sweating. Looking at the last six month's warranty service receipts (~$10k for a complete replacement on the entire blower, including the blower clutch, as well as the intercooler pump, another ~4k in brake fixes, a new pump, fixed the rattling panoramic roof, etc etc...) and REALLY sweating.
No way I'll risk this car out of warranty. Someone MUST be able to sell us coverage. To add to the mystery, I have Renntech stage 1 also. <gulp>
I'll do some digging and see what the best price for a ten year, 100k warranty would look like, if one is to be had.
Happy hunting,
Skeeter

I spent quite a bit of time researching and talking to several different MB dealers finance departments and everyone said the same thing. The only warranty available for AMG models were the factory EW or a CPO car.

While we are on the subject of warranty....what is Mercedes options on extended warranty? Is it 6 years and 60k miles to qualify for Starmark when purchased from the dealer?
If so, it seems that the least scary but more expesive purchase would to be buy that E55 from the dealer.

If so that is because to sell insurance in CA, you need to be a license broker which autowarrantybroker does not require, I guess. Therefore if you signup on-line they will tell you they don't offer it. If you call them and if you, let's say, have a mailing address outside of CA then they should be able to sign you up. After you signed up you are good to go and if you want to now change the address to CA, let's say that you moved, that is not a problem.

Every site i go to says that they dont cover my AMG.
I have a 2003 E55 with 22k and just bought a 6 year, 75K platinum warranty from Mercury. Covers everything but normal wear and tear. Cost around $3300. I heard they might be dropping coverage of AMG SC cars so move quickly if you're interested.Originally Posted by inferno2469

I bought the Mercury warranty on 12/31/06 for my 03. It covers almost everything. I too heard it may be discontinued for AMG cars so you may want to check with Mercury.

Baldmike: Do you mind sharing the price of warranty you purchased from Smythe? I know it may be a little outdated but just for reference.
Anyone contacted Lisa from Chico?
I just want to compile the price so it's easier for us to decide:
1. Mercury is ~$3300 - covers everything (no exclusion? really? even if your dynamic seat is broken or your sunroof or ...?
). Need some trick (out-of-state address?).
2. Lisa from Chico
3. Smythe European in NorCal
Stupid question:
If I purchase an extended warranty and let's say I sell my car before the MB's new car warranty expires, will I get a full refund or will it be prorated?

Mercury is a very good company as well, if they still offer a warranty on AMG cars then everyone should jump on this.Originally Posted by DarkStar

Mercury has different deductable levels available for different prices. You also need to buy the "electronics package" to cover the nav fyi.
