Go find Dean (Scorchie) if you're in NorCal, but haven't seen him post anything lately. Try PM him.

The wirings are all the same. You basically have to gut the trunk, take out all the door moldings to run the wires correctly to your fuse box. It's a labor intensive job and I saw Steve did it on my car together with the center console swap.

I believe the E63 folding mirrors are CLSesk. I will definitely post pics of the install. R's E63 is coming along. He'll have a few nice mods on it soon. His actually makes me want one as a real DD.

I dunno Steve's travel plans. I second emailing wanda. They are far, but responsive. The mirror install is straight "bolt on", so you may can get an MB Tech to do it for you?

E55 mirrors and E63 mirrors are different basically towards the base right? the E55 has the continuous thick housing all throughout while the E63 has a similar outer shape but before the base it tapers to make a CLSish shape which has a small thin "connecting beam"... right? thats really the basic differences?

Very different in every way.
The CLS mirror is what is used for the E63 one.

Can the E63 mirrors be a plug and play replacement for our 55's?

I don't know about plug and play, but they can be replaced. It is more than simply getting the guts for a folding mirror job, since you need the housing as well.

One thing I don't get is blind spots. Why do you have blind spots with the standard mirror?

I have no blind spot on any car... even the Elise that has a huge visibility problem over your shoulders.

Can someone explain?

I guess you da man. Hope that helps. I think it mostly has to do with where you aim your mirrors. some like to use them to see all around. I have no blind spot issues, either but it is a matter of preference.

I guess so. And i'm not da man. lol

I guess some people like their mirrors to show them the sides of their car? That only helps when parking and the MB has that parking mirror function to move one mirror when reversing...

Anyway, just curious.

In R's case, he does use his to park, since MB took the parking assist feature out. We'll fix that with Star when it all gets done.

That's what i actually meant was that can the entire housing from a 63 bolt right on to our 55's with no problemo?

Hey Jangy any pics of the folding E63 mirrors or AMG illuminated doorsills?

My dealer said that they don't have the AMG illuminated doorsills anymore but I have found generic ones, any known differences?

i got the convex for my car. very different. on the regular mirror, the drivers side mirror is regular and the passenger side has a convex shape so you can see more. with the euro mirrors, both are convex and even to a greater degree than on the passenger side. its really wierd at first as your brain isn't used to that information, but once you get used to it, you feel naked without it. i drove my friends cls and i felt that my visibility was decreased by 50% compared to my car with the mirrors.

the e63 and e55 mirrors "should" be interchangable.

No installed pics. I have the component, but I don't know when R plans on getting the install. I think either during this week or next weekend.

I'm pretty picky on the sills and hate the knock offs (i.e. formymercedes.com), but that is your choice.

that requires drilling as the boltpattern is slightly different AND bolts go on from the INSIDE - but it does fit

Thanks for all the support, Steve!! Having OEM Euro parts is a sweet deal for us!

Care to comment on the face lift? I know many rumors fly around here about how easy that is or isn't.

EASY (as shown on the 2003 E400CDI pictured above) as long as the car does NOT have parktronic...parktronic equiped cars require additional attention

I was hoping it wouldn't be true, folding mirrors on the E63, because now I want them!

Steve is there another email address I can email questions about products and pricing? I sent an email to info@mbenznl several days ago, not sure you received it.

It is definitely true. The E63 has the folding mirrors. You may as well go ahead and get the lit AMG sills while you are at it.
