Beefed up 7g tranny?
My question is, isn't this a torque number they were saying the 7g tranny can't handle (in the new CLK63 black series)? ..

According to the specs, 630 tq and the 7g tranny .. creepin up on 55k torque numbers .. is this a beefed up AMG version of the 7g, in which case might it show up in the 65's and even last remaining 55k's?
If this is the case it would be good news for the 63 guys, in terms of being able to mod their cars, right?

Well I posted here cause you AMG E guys are the most on top of these things, so I'm glad to find out I didn't make myself sound totally ignorant!! I wonder what a 7g tranny would do with a 55k motor? I mean if it were in a new SL55 .. but I'm guessing it would be a much more significant improvement for new 63's (allowing them to mod them).

The quoted torque and power figures, on the website, are the SAME as the E63, but more that the current CLK63. So the transmission is likely to be the same as in the E63.

Is the 7gtronic tranny for AMGs different than the one for regular Benzes? I am asking this because ever since I started running NOS I've noticed my tranny to be slipping and shifting very hard. I am wondering if the one for AMGs are stronger to handle a bit more tq than the regular ones. Because with NOS I'm supposed to have tq at around 430, I sometimes wonder if I hit the limit on the 7g or if its the fact that I drive my car very harsh and constantly use tiptronic.

I'm curious as to whether the torque curve itself is relevant to a transmission's ability to handle output.
I'm no engineer, but it seems intuitively that a ton of torque just off idle (like our cars) would put more strain on a car that puts out the same amount but at a much higher RPM. Any technical folk among us that can say whether a sudden slamming of 500 lb-ft at 2k rpm puts the same stress on the transmission as 500 @ 5k RPM?
