I know a lil bit about this 1 piece forged area for mercedes fitments. Right now nothing beats the forged aluminum Neez Eurocross rim in weight and strength as well as cost, look at the numbers, the magnesium neez do not have a good cost/weight return as compared to the aluminum neez. I believe i also read somewhere that Neez may produce BBS japan forged wheels which are the some of the best.

I opted for Volk strictly to do something different as it is extremely tough getting Volks in the 1 piece forged fitments in a 5x112 pcd, trust me i have been thru this.....stay tuned as i have a special set coming for my CL600. 19's weigh about 21.5lbs

If you want Carlsson ULs...

Here is the adress of my German tuner...he has got the best prices on carlsson...I think his price on 19's 1/16 UL cost around 4500 EURO - 18% tax that you can get back...

He ships worldwide...

the Neez Eurocross are nice...

Which Volks are you getting? I know they have the TE37 in 5x112, but not the Time Attack Version.

The Carlsson UltraLights are also manufactured at the Neez factory, I believe.

I am almost positive that the UL's are manufactured by APP Forged.

18s vs. 19s

Could there be a loss in 1/4 mile times and trap speeds by increasing your wheel size to 19'' from 18'', assuming equal weight..

theoretically keeping weight constant no you will not lose et nor trap speed. I trap 122 consistently on 18's with drag radials and on 19's with pilot sports.

Those are prices for magnesium forged wheels they also sell. Aluminum forged are around 1,000$ a piece, which is consistent with what other companies charge for forged aluminum.

Does anyone have these wheels? I am hearing that these wheels are as light as 17 - 17.5 pounds in 18"s. Could this be true? I think this would make them lighter than the Carlssons..

I know Vic55 has them. Shoot him a pm.

BTW, there is a different Vic55 that's a moderator on another MB website (MB online) and that guy is a real tool.

The wheel size wont make a difference (well slightly because you have more mass to spin away from the center) but you also have to take into consideration the tire availability. When you go to 19's, I dont think you have an option of using a drag radial anymore. At that size I believe The Micheli PS Cups would be your best bet. Given the amount of torque the AMG's produce you may have quite a bit of trouble hooking up on the lanuch. Thats my 2 cents.

Thanks... I have decided to stick with 18s for that reason alone. Any recommendations on size. 18x8.5 or 18x9.5?

You want to run the the thinnest wheel possible recommended for that specific tire. Example, if your only tire choice happens to be a 275 and its recommended for a 9" width, you would gain nothing by going to a 9.5 besides weight. I hope this made sense.

I spoke to the Dymag representative at SEMA this past year and he said depending on width the 18" wheels ranged from 11-14lbs in their lightest form. They also said they let a Porsche racing team test their wheels and said that the porsche team noticed a gain of roughly 30-40HP to the wheels b/c of this addition and multiple seconds off each lap time. I cannot substantiate these claims but having lifted the wheels myself and seen them in person, i believe it 100%. Dymag is the future of wheel technology and a set of 18" will cost you roughly $8500 total. Its $$ but considering it actually significantly improves accelerate, handling, braking, weight, and overall behavior of the car it may actually be a worthwhile investment.

I like the look of a wide tire but the bottom line is if you plan on using a street radial with as much torque as these cars have a 335 wont offer any more traction then a 275
