Hello Ladies and Gents,

I have been a forum browser for a good ten years now. I have run a bunch of local forums and made a LOT of good friends over the years. I have had my E55 for about 3 years now but this year I decided to actually drive it and modify it. As per usuall, I decided to hit up one of the forums for this type of car and see what I could learn.

I made my decisions as you can see and it was only with the help if a few good people on this board. The 2 most notable came in to help with my suspension and Carbon Lip.

First off, user John_V. , is a vendor that supplies the adjustable linkages for the lowering of our air ride equipped vehicles so I decided to give him a call. Lucky enough he was in Vancouver where I live and he not only told me everything I needed to know but he installed the items with no problems and the car is at the perfect height I want it. I decided to go this route because I like doing things mechanically rather then electronically. I dont know what but as the saying goes, K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple Stupid)

I urge you to take a closer look at this type of lowering, he is one of the reason I swear by boards like this. His site is www.adjustableairride.com

Next person I want to thank goes by the Username 001kz. I posted up that I was looking for a Carbon Lip for the E55 and I got many replies but this one person stood out. He offered to take pictures of the Lip and when he did a few days later he replied with, "the lip is scratched up, you can just have it!" He plainly said I could have his CF front lip as he took a few days to reply and he claimed it was scratched. I was dumbfounded and of course without wasting any breath I told him to send it and I would send him at least the money for the shipping right away. I figured at most it would be 50 bux or so but I offered to send $75 bux right away just in case.

A few days passed and now word from him,a few days later I figured he decided against it. He had not taken the money for shipping and I had no word from him. I sent him an email saying that if he wasnt going to ship the item that I would just order a new one as I needed the car complete. He replied to me saying that he had shipped it last week, he has no idea if it will fit the E55 as it didnt on his E320 and that only if it was the right one I would pay for shipping.

Once again, I couldn't beleive it, he took no money, all the risk, spent his time and sent me an item I wanted. Sure enough, the next day it arrived. You be the judge of it being damaged or not fitting. It fit fine!

So basically what I am trying to say is that we hear horror stories on the internet in regards to people ripping each other off and fraud and etc... I just wanted all of you to know that there are at least 2 GOOD people just on this board.

John_V. and 001kz I owe both of you!

Thanks for the Read Guys, enjoy the pics!

Raymond

Very cool. Is there a "downside" to the lowering links? I was unaware of this option. It looks very cool! I don't want to slam the car I just want to lower the Gap.

Definately a nice ride. I have liked those rims ever since I saw them on a black SL55. They look sweet on your ride too.

Do lose the orange markers though.

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words. I will see if I can get more pics shortly for all of you. To answer some questions, I have found no adverse effect thus far with the linkage. I chose it because you have to cut no wires to install (takes 10 minutes) and all the factory height functions still work. Also, if you use the Star Method to get it back to stock height you need to go back to the dealer. Either way, this method is inexpensive and easy. There are a lot of topics in regard to this in these forums so read up there.

Next, more than one person brought up the orange corner lights. Are the "Euro" ones actual OEM european lights or some cheap Japanese knock offs. I never knew they existed but if they are OEM, point me in the direction

I have always liked white cars and the E with the Black Pano was my choice for this reason. I knew my wheels would eventually be black and the black lip sets it off. Persiongodfatha, I looked at your car many times as I tried to choose wheels, I loved the STM's but I wanted something other than classy, I wanted agrressive. On the white car the lip is a MUST, even with stock wheels I noticed a night and day difference.

Lastly, the wheels are not everybodies cup of tea, you either love them or hate them but I love them but only in this combo though. Lowenharts tend to be very pricey and to add insult to injury, the 3 pce ones tend to bend easiy. I damaged my first one in a pot hole 3 hours after initial purchase. I am not a chrome guy so that was out. As for speed and weight. This car is a luxury car to me, if I wanted speed I would have kept my 911

Thanks for all the kind words

Raymond
